Well, after waiting a week for my order to arrive plus the extra delays because of Labor Day, it was very nice to find a small package in my mailbox today. What was inside . . .
A Caly III and a mini-Persian
The Caly III was smaller than I imagined, but that's probably a good thing since it'll be carried on a college campus. I was actually surprised by how sharp the blade came, hairs pretty much flew off my arm. The grip fits my hand very well, I can just get all four fingers on the handle without using the choil. It opens very smoothly, and I figure it'll only get better as I wear it in. The lock is a little tight though, when I press the back lock to close the knife I feel like it's catching on something. I'm sure it'll get better after a few days of use.
Now onto the mini-Persian. Now this thing is just gorgeous, I can't bring myself to use it. My mini-Manix has quite possibly been dethroned as my favorite Spyderco. The micarta is great, definitely my favorite handle material. I lucked out again, and the handle just fits all four fingers perfectly. The blade shape also gets a big  The folder is very exotic, and the unique look alone sold me on the knife. I was going to order a Lonewolf Harsey T1, but when I first saw the mini-Persian I knew I had to try it out. Very happy with that decision. Only problem I have with the knife is that it's difficult to open. All of my Spydercos are very smooth, but this one takes a lot of effort. It's not gritty though, so I'll use a drop of mineral oil and wear in the knife, hopefully that'll smooth things out.
Well, I couldn't be happier with my latest purchase, a big thanks to Spyderco.
I'll also try to get some pics up when I get a chance.
PS - what color should the wire clip by on my Caly III. I was expecting it to be silver like the blade but mine has a light brown color, reminds me of bronze. Is this normal?
