So I found this knife I've had since I was about 10 or 11 in a closet in my old house when I was cleaning it up.
I remember buying it at KMart years ago. It's from a brand named Sharp and its marked 440 Stainless (probably A). The handle was a solid rubbery compound that had succumbed to mice teeth and dry rotting. So, I took a razor blade and sliced it all off then hit it with a 120grit disc on my drill to knock off any surface rust and discoloration.
It's a nice clip point blade with a swedge on the clip. Don't think its a hollow grind...would it be a Scandi? Dimensions are: 9.5" overall; blade length: 5.5"; blade width: 1" 1/8th at its widest point.
I'm trying to think what kind of handle would work best. A basic hidden tang with a guard or even a stacked handle with guard.
And that brings up another question. I think I would need to bring the "stick" part into the blade a bit more to have room for a guard.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
