I bought a used car about 1 year ago and today I found this knife deep under the seat.

Is it a reputable brand?

What do you think?

from what I've heard - Hen and Rooster brands are supposed to be pretty good stuff -
German I think.... but definitely worth cleaning up, sharpening and carrying/using.

Hi dsandiego -

That is a pretty nice find!

I think H&R are owned by Frost now, you can do a little googling on the brand and find out that the original company dissolved in 1980.

They are, according to what I could google, still made in Solingen -

I found your model (HR351) for sale for $50 new - so it is a pretty decent little knife.

Congrats, its a beauty!

best regards -

Nice find.

That's one of the reasons I don't carry a knife without a clip much. I got tired of retracing all my steps to try and find where my knife slipped out of my pocket.

You could probably get a knife like that of your own for low price and return that one to it's owner. Doing the right thing and returning that knife to the person that lost it will bring more happiness the knife itself.

If your can't find the original owner, keep it. Otherwise send it home. That's what you'd want the person that found your knife to do.

I bought the car in Texas. I live in Oklahoma.

I'd try to contact the owner and send it back. Tossing it in a padded envelope would cost no more than $2.

the only problem attempting to return the knife is that the car's previous owner may have never seen the knife, it might have belonged to one or multiple persons riding in the vehicle. maybe even a knife from the person that owned the car before the owner you bought it from, maybe a potential buyer whom tested the car on the road, ad infitum. the thought is noble but the action may meet with naught.

Did you buy the car in Texas around a year ago. If it had green handles I think it might be a knife I lost. :D

Did you buy the car "as is". Then all the contents within are yours. If you bought the car direct from the previous owner, and want to ask them about a knife, then go for it.
I'd keep it. If I lost that knife, over a year ago, I would have moved on by now.
