Four blems for 11/21

i don't get this, i email my info that i wanted the knife would pay with paypal an asked if you could send me your paypal info, they were not posted sold yet..but i got a email back couple hours later stating there long gone???

Yeah mate, it's the quick and the dead here. Once I got a Dotd pop up, 1 min later my email was sent. I was too slow lol its painful, especially cause no one else has posted an EMS as a courtesy, and you think you got it in the bag and it's long gone. Keep trying mate, if it's meant to be it'll happen ;)

It's considered good courtesy for a person who sends an email to post "email sent" here so that others don't get their hopes up or waste Yangdu's time with extra emails. However, not everybody knows that or abides by it. Also, some people send an email from work for from cell phones and don't have a chance to post the EMS message on the forum until later. Yangdu can't control that.

You could try emailing Yangdu and asking if she has another knife like the one or two that you wanted. Sometimes she has more than one and will sell them at the DOTD price.

One thing to keep in mind is that, email delivery time is not guaranteed. Yes, sometimes it is wickedly fast but this doesn't mean someone else's email won't be routed faster than yours. It's never a direct connection between your system and the receiver's...it will bounce off of many nodes (servers) on the Internet until it reaches the destination. It's even outside of your ISP's control. Not to mention that even once it hits the final mail server, things can go wrong from there, too.

Keep in mind that not even text messages over phone have a guaranteed "instant" delivery time.

Yes. I think even people not subscribed on this forum might send emails, right? It's not a prerequisite to be registered. As a courtesy, though, everyone should do that. It was a pain to get registered and only after that sending the email (to make sure I can post here ASAP after sending the email), fearing someone else will be quicker than me ;).

Ya nailed it brother! One trick is to use Aunti's actual aol email address rather than going through the forum Private message interface. I used to have a blank email already filled out and ready to send. All I had to do is cut and paste item and DOTD date and hit send. But for the reasons you stated i dont even bother with that anymore. Getting complacent in my old age i guess. I got enough Khuks anyway. HA!HA! yeah right! You just never know. Some of my best Khuks lasted to the next day before they found me.

Welcome to the forum Kalama! Enjoy!

LoL Moonw, I just might quote you on that one of these days when a customer is getting uppity about why their servers aren't running the way they want. :D

But it IS dead on accurate.

Dont give away all the speedy email tricks Ndog... I always have a draft ready lol but let's not give out all the tricks lol.

Oh and a little info about email speed... Sending an email first doesn't garentee Auntie will "receive" it first. It depends on the SMTP sever you are using. Some people might email from work and their work might host their own exchange/email server. The sever might not be set for send/receive folders on demand. They might send/receive every five minutes or every five seconds. It all depends on the smtp (simple mail transport protocol) or exchange server settings are configured. It has nothing to do with Auntie or the end users computer. Large smtp servers like yahoo, gmail, ect have extremely fast smtp servers and usually are the best to use. I never use my work email because it bounces off my works exchange server which isn't as fast as yahoo/ gmail servers even though they are free... They really aren't free, just advertising and marketing vessels that we think are "free".
I deal with smtp garbage all friggin day being a IT specialist. I mainly deal with networking, which can be a pain in the arsss. They only call me when there is an issue and most people in todays world have litle to no patience. I don't even have time to diagnose and troubleshoot the issue before they are cry that its taking to long. I am so happy i moved to a semi rural area... The commute sucks, but my home is in a peaceful place. One of these days i will quit and find more peaceful employment. I wonder if Auntie needs help:D

HAHA...lol, that is exactly what I was thinking. We have a 4 day holiday coming up, the wife asks, "I want to go somewhere", I immediately respond back, "Let's go to Reno". Lol...should've seen "the look" I got, especially when she asked if I wanted to go gambling, and I said, "nah"....

Careful cul! She might think you have a girlfriend there:eek:

I'm very pleased with the UBE! Being that Reno is the last stop before my USPS mail gets to me here in N. Calif., I received it the next day after payment! This blem had the pointy part of the pommel chipped. I used a scrap piece of purpleheart I had laying around, and with some G-Flex & a brass pin repaired it. My first khuk. After some preliminary test cutting & chopping, the many years of practical development of this tool are becoming apparent. As beautiful as it is, it is an ergonomic delight.

That UBE is a beautiful blade, I got one by Tirtha too, and it is one of my top 5 HI blades, for sure.

Awesome repair there Sherman01. That blade should serve you well for years to come now. Welcome to the beginning of HIKV :D
