So I figured I'd try something a little different. I have a lot of odds and ends gear that I thought "Hey, this would make some fine survival kit starters (or just small kits)". This would be too big to fit in an Altoids tin, but would probably go nicely in, say, a small Maxped pouch or an IFAK MOLLE pouch--better still, put this in a Nalgene bottle with a Sierra cup over the end, throw in a small saw and you've got a decent pack kit.

An unequivocal "I'll take" followed by a PM or email has priority over any offers. Not looking for trades. Please ONLY use this thread for posting "I'll take it" and keep all questions, comments, jokes, limericks, haiku and other assorted and sundry non-"I'll take it" related posts confined to email or PM. I AM set up to receive emails, so folks without a paying status can always reach me that way :)

So here's what I'm thinking. Basic kit ships for $37 (includes paypal fees--seems fair to me, let me know privately if you disagree) and includes the following (add-ons with prices noted below). TO BE CLEAR, THIS CANNOT SHIP DAY OF PAYMENT SINCE I WILL NEED TO BUILD WHICHEVER FIRESTEEL CONFIGURATION YOU PREFER, but that should only tack on a day or two--possibly three for antler work:

FOOD:
- five hooks
- about 10 yards of line
- 5 split-shot sinkers
- 1 spinning fly (works well for a variety of fish from bluegills to bass and trout)--First come, first serve on the color/fly type.

SHELTER:
- Mylar blanket
- About 15 feet of black paracord

WATER/FIRST AID:
- Potassium Permanganate in an airtight container (a little bit can purify water, or can help cleanse wounds, treat blisters, etc.--it IS caustic though, so PLEASE read up on how to use it)

FIRE:

- Potassium Permanganate--mix with glycerin (such as is found in radiator fluid) and it will ignite in a few seconds.
- For $8 I can add another small waterproof container with glycerin, magnesium shavings, or petroleum jelly-soaked cotton balls laced with magnesium shavings.
- I MIGHT have enough little containers to do a third one with your choice of filling, again for $8
- Custom-made firesteel with scraper--all handles are tightly wrapped and epoxied for worry-free use.
- 38 Special brass handle is the standard included in the price. Comes with a paracord loop installed--tell me about how long you need it and if you'd prefer the scraper attached to the loop or left separate.
- I can finish with the antler pieces shown in the pics for an additional $10 (please specify which piece)--the antler will be smoothed out and a brass lanyard tube installed. May take a couple of days to get it finished. Given that it is natural material, it may end up breaking during the processing (I've only had that happen once so not a huge likelihood). If that happens, I'll either find another piece or refund the $10 and get the 38 brass handle on.

KNIFE:

- Everyone gets a thin card multi-tool with saw, blade, bottle opener, etc.
PLUS A CHOICE OF:
- Small Buck folder (made in China; lightly used) (+$3)
- Small SAK--New (+$3)
- A larger Imperial Ireland-made knife--lightly used
- a smaller Imperial Ireland knife--lightly used

Here's the pics:
