I really like the look of these, sir, although I have no experience with Vanadis 4E. One of these days I will have to go in for one. I really like the look and size of the Agor EDC especially.

Regards,

David

David,

I took that from official Uddeholm FB page ;)

"Confirmed – Uddeholm Vanadis 4 Extra is World Champion.
At this year’s annual Blade Show in Atlanta, US, Dan Keffler won the world championship in competition knife cutting. The winner used a Vanadis 4 Extra blade as he had done in 2013 and 2014.
Dan won the Bladesports cutting competition for the 3rd year in a row using a knife made of Vanadis 4 Extra at HRC 62. The key to this competition is that the blade must not chip, any chips and the competitor is disqualified. Vanadis 4 Extra handles this without problems, and is now becoming the standard grade for competition knife cutting.
We recently created another competition blade of that steel & ran the hardness up to 64 HRC. We put it through extensive testing without any failure. We are excited to try some more blades of this steel, says Bradley Stallsmith at Peters’ Heat Treating, Inc."

I can confirm. HARD, TOUGH, PERFECT WEAR RESISTANCE ;)

Regards,

Adam

I'm a fan of your work  That's the first I've seen of the sheath, looks nice as well.

Thank you for that Adam. I was trying to remember what was in the back of my mind regarding the steel, and now I remember it was in association with Mr. Keffler's competition cutters and also a friend who had one built in this steel. Quite a testament to its properties. Best of luck on your sale.

Just a heads up: the harsh lighting in the photos makes it hard to see the lines of the handles. The blades look great though!

I've been waiting for someone to start using this steel more, from my research it looks like one of my most favored blade steels, for outdoors/skinning/hunting blade. I'm really liking these, 62 rc sounds about perfect.

That is the reason I have chosen that steel. It has everything needed for making a perfect knife.
For the people hateing rust I have M390 ;)

HT was made in 1080C for 30 min and tempering twice in 540C for two hours with intermadiate cooling up to 70C.
Each feed is checked in my friend's workshop with Rockwell hardness tester.

Why do we freeze steels?
Why I am tempering high? Higher than 525C?

Here is diagram ;)

There is no need to make sub-zero when tempering high unless you require maximum dimensional stability.
Besides that freezing can cause cracks in the steel ;)

So NO, NO SUB-ZERO treatment in my HT processes ;)

Nice, if funds allowed I would definitely look into one to try out. In the future I will for sure be buying one from you!
