Four Part Survey

look forward to that picture, haven't seen many British makers before, (then again I don't look hard :))

I should probably post my choices, they might surprise you.

1) What knife would you choose as a survival knife?

In the area I`m in, it would be my Victorinox Forester, it has a long enough blade and saw to make it work (for me), and my spearpoint JK Phoenix.

2) What knife do you use for hunting?

I don`t get out hunting anymore, but it used to be a Buck 102 Woodsman.

3) What is your EDC knife?

Recently it has been a ZT0350, but I always carry a basic Victorinox, I can`t remember the model, but it`s like a Tinker, but with a corkscrew instead of a phillips.

4) Do you carry a certain knife while hiking or just bumming around in the woods?

Victorinox Farmer, and Buck 110

What knife would you choose as a survival knife?

Two actually...The Tool & a Vic.Ranger or Hercules.

What knife do you use for hunting?

The Tool & my upcoming Pocket Muk will be in my pack if I go hunting again.
I've used a Case Pawnee,Buck 119 & folding Gerber Magnum Hunter in the past.
And I do mean the past,I took my last deer on Thanksgiving day 1984.

What is your EDC knife?
Kershaw Shallot & GEC Pemberton or Case Peanut.
At work it's the JKFFXL & Vic. Rambler.

Do you carry a certain knife while hiking or just bumming around in the woods?

The Tool will be my main blade for now on,but I carried a Buck 470 for a long time before getting into hand made knives.(I got the 470 cheap from a Kmart sale many moons ago)
The Hiker and Rule #9(both great knives) plus a Vic.Ranger,Hercules or a Rambler got some carry time last year.
(can't wait to get out there again, darn snow)

What knife would you choose as a survival knife?

GSO 4.1 or Issue Nimravus, and Villager finished Amar Singh Thapa.. if the survival situation is not on a SERE level.

What knife do you use for hunting?

Not any in particular these days.. but it used to be a Buck Omni.

What is your EDC knife?

ZT 0561, and usually my JK LRK+... occasionally a Sirupati.

Do you carry a certain knife while hiking or just bumming around in the woods?

Usually my GSO 4.1 and/or Combat and Companion.. occasionally backed up by the Amar Singh Thapa, or WCF Hawk.

Survival knife, heavily modified bk 16. Stripped, convexed, scales dyed and sanded.

Hunting knife, The last 3 years I have used a shrade 140t, guthook.

Edc, ontario rat 1. Because Its orange and recently purchased.

Hiking, woods wandering. I take the edc, and usually a mora 1. They just work so well carving.

Survival knife would be my EK model 5 combat bowie, had this knife for 20 years, I've beaten it through a cord of wood in that time, cleared more brush than I can remember and its seen more than a few barbeques it's been used to 1/2 and 1/4 many chickens, it'll shave hair and skin game if need be, although I've never used it for SD I'm sure it would work fine.

Hunting knife, my original Schrade Sharpfinger another oldy but moldy, about 30+ years old, been on many huntin' trips, skinned many hides. An all around great skinning/camp knife.

EDC would be two, my newly traded for small Sebenza 21 and my Case Swayback Jack, Sebenza 'cause it's a precision knife, rock solid and just a pleasure to use and the SBJ is the epitome of a traditional EDC knife and a perfect example of the Cutlers Art and also a joy to hold and use. The two blades, (Wharncliff and Pen) complement each other very nicely.

Hiking in the woods, I'd already have my EK, my EDCs, I'd also grab my Victorinox Alox Farmer simply because as a weed walkin' knife it can't be beat, ounce for ounce it's a lot of utility in a pocketable knife.

I just wanna add 1 category that I'm sure a lot of enthusiasts also carry, a dedicated SD blade and for me that would be my Bud Nealy 01 Aikuchi the one knife I'd be most likely to use the event my 9mm Taurus malfunctioned or was for some reason not with me.

I do carry one of your Tin knives with homemade ivory scales in my Altoids psk in my bob.

My Condor Barong. This thing is much more versatile than it may appear.

2) What knife do you use for hunting?
I don't hunt.

3) What is your EDC knife?
I have an Imperial camp utility pocket knife like the one I used in the scouts as a teen. I have a Boker Barlow I rescued from my pops (not a knife person) and put back into use. A Victorinox Adventurer. A CRKT Hammond Cruiser (fits in the added SD category as well). and my JK CBK. Condor Rodan. I have many others to choose from but these are the ones that see use.

4) Do you carry a certain knife while hiking or just bumming around in the woods?
Any number of moras. My JK CBK. Condor Barong (always). Condor Rodan.

#1. A fixed blade, like my David Farmer 5" Trade Sticker or at least a 4" Mora Clipper. I always have a small Hawk with me too.

#2. Same as #1 and my Charlie Ridge Nessie if there's big skinning work.

#3. Always a CQC7 and a Vic Farmer or large Brown Mule these last 12 years.

#4. All of the above and another bigger hawk. Either my CS Viking hawk or one of several small bag hawks.

:)
