Up today are four good puukkos from various corners of the globe, two of which are from Finnish mastersmiths. Not looking for trades, really. Trying to thin out the last corner of my collection.
1. Jukka Hankala Lastu. A puukko design unique to Jukka Hankala, Finnish mastersmith. Black is 95mm 115crv3 silversteel. Handle is birch burl. Exceptional puukko good for any kind of use. It carves and preps food well. Used. Asking $300
2. Deering Standard Puukko. I will regret this. 5/32 cryo 01 blade 96mm long. Black canvas micarta. Perfect in every way. Unused. Asking $300.
3. Mikko Inkeroinen Pekanpään Puukko. I ordered this from Mikko and asked for this particular style, which is rare, and for him to leave some of the forge scale on. The Pekanpää style is associated regionally with logging, fishing, and general use so it’s slightly longer than a typical woodcarving puukko. Handforged 80crv2 blade 101mm long. Birch bark handle. Comes with presentation box. Lightly used. Asking $300 SOLD
4. La Forge du Vieux Monde Puukko. Not generally available in the US, I ordered this from Bourly, France. Handmade fixed knife by "La Forge du Vieux Monde" Ernest Delannoy. Hand forged 80CrV2 puukko shape with a convex edge. Old oak handle with full tang and steel ferrule. Blade 101mm. Ernest lives in a part of France with a lot of Medieval French influences and this piece is constructed according to Medieval methods seen in his local museums (including the sheath)—all done by hand. The blade is thick and convexed. This is a serious working and/or chore knife. Blade finish is unlike anything I’ve seen before and starts with a cracked char then fades to a grey smoky finish ends ends in a bright mirror-polished edge. I’ve never seen any blade finish that looked like this—no idea how he did it. Unused except for a few boxes. Asking $250
