hey everyone happy new year I hope everyone had a great holiday. I just got this 110 had not seen this one before it's a two dot. have any of you guys seen many of these around? Jerry
Yes I have a 112 with the four inlay rivets and seen only one 110 other than yours. What I understand about these is Buck had predrilled inlay in the two pin style in their inventory that were redrilled in the three pin configuration. So, they had 4 holes to pin up.
Its a transition knife between the two and three inlay rivet knives made probably in 75. Nice score and it looks in really good condition. Send me a pm if you want to sell it.
Not to be contrary but the 4 inlay rivet were likely made between the two inlay rivet and three inlay rivet knives (more correctly during the beginning of the 3 inlay rivet knife production). So early on in the 2 dot series. Notice the small rivet size. By 1979 they were 1/8th. The 2 dots began in 1974 with 2 inlay rivets. So I was guessing 1975 but I think its fair to say its an early 2 dot rather a late 2 dot.
Just checked my data and the material on the 110 doesn't state anything about the 4pin. But on the 112 is does state that on 5th version 2 varation. So, near 1974.DM
A 110 with 4 inlay rivets would be a fifth Version, Variation 5.
One of the 2 dot knives so that does put it in the 1974-80 timeframe as David mentioned.
I dont have any nib samples in the company archives. I hope to see one someday so that I can hopefully get some timeframe info from the paperwork.
David, I always thought I had the most current data sheet on that thread. You are absolutely right, it did stop at the 3rd Variation.
I "unstuck" that old thread and posted a new one with the most current data sheet dated 1/5/08.
Sorry about that David!
