Four years after order placed, my Skookum Bush Tool arrives...

I have another 3 years to go I guess, lol. I wonder if Rod offers stabilized wood as a scale option. I really prefer nice figured wood, I don't even mind supplying it myself :)

Congrats on your purchase.
Rod is a great guy and the design has taken off like a rocket with no end in sight.
Is the blade numbered?
I'm just curious as to how many he's made so far.
Seems like yesterday when he started out making these, then you look back at the posts and wow, it's been a while.

It's not like he couldn't buy a Mora, or a JK or anything else during those 4 years.

Beautiful SBT.

Big fan of the RG design.

So much so, that I had a custom bushcraft knife made with the similar style of end cap (blade is nothing like the SBT).

My number should come up in another two years. I have a matched set in 3V on order, one for me, one for my father. It's going to be awesome.

There is nothing wrong in wanting a particular knife, and then paying top dollar, and waiting for years. That acquisition route is not for everyone though, and going down that road does not make the purchaser a sucker, or a saint.
Randall, Turley, SKB , and of course other marks are sold that way. The only chuckle I get is the insanity of the pricing on the secondary market. A knife that sold for say $350, going for double, triple, or many times that amount. Turley recently has doubled his asking price. No reason for the aftermarket guys to make all the money, I suppose.

I had a Skookum, A2. Got it in a trade. The owner previous to the guy traded it to me, modified the neck sheath to belt carry. I really liked the knife, but I have a love hate relationship with the scandi grind. It is neat, but I prefer flat/convex, even hollow grinds. Anyway, I later traded or sold it. I am not saying it is a Skookum, but Scott Gossman came out with the Orion. I have one in 3V and it is a great knife. I do want to pick up a Forest knife when it is offered in a flat convex, Jim Nowka talked about how to go about getting that in a podcast episode of Knife Journal. I commissioned a Dozier bushcraft with a flat grind, and it was too thin for me. Prior to getting the Skookum, I ordered one from Garcia. I ordered a flat grind, and he said it would be thin, but when I got the Dozier, I gave my order spot to someone else and canceled the order. Great knife, just my preferences. I love the Skookum/Forest/Orion pattern, but with a flat grind and convex edge.
