Every Fox I have owned was very well made, just small design choices made them not for me. The quality is top notch, but you have to check out the designs (same as every knife, really). I will never say they are bad, I will just say they have unique styling for many models.
I was excited to recieve my first karambit on Friday, a fox 599. Quality is good for what I paid for and definitely better than the Emerson's karambit for fits and finishes as well as in hand feel. Then I notice some really bad scratches on the blade (zigzaging marks, see pic). So first impression was not favourable.. Hopefully this is a isolated case and I'll have better luck for the next one. It's going back to the online dealer on Monday.
Sorry the pics weren't high res enough, but it's definitely scratchs, feel like some kind of marking tool got drag over it, I can see tiny flakes of black coating around the scratches... Something this obvious should not have passed quality control... Just my opinion.
I've only owned three FOX knives (two made in Italy and one in USA) and each has been very decent. I think their knives are fairly priced for the level of quality, materials, and fit & finish offered.
Most of their designs aren't my cup of tea, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy more from FOX if l see something I like.
Just to follow up on my experience with fox knife.
Returned the one with the scratched blade and one week later I got myself another one. No major issues this time.
Now what's this story about their karambit failing with the lightest spine wack test?!
