Fox Knives SPECWOG Warrior Knife

Its disappointing to see where fox knives is going lately. Im not trying to bash them but the above knife is something I would expect more from united cutlery.

Well this is my first post,
I've been lurking quite some time but now I could not keep my mouth shut. I know people have there own oppinion and that's fine, but I don't like it if people bash designs as not functional even if they never handeled it or have seen it in action. Mr. Rostohar, the man who designed this knife, is a very experienced hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting instructor (check him out on youtube).
Will this knife function as a fixed edc blade or a camp knife? Well it's a cutting tool but there are better designs for those tasks, but it is in fact very functional for what it is designed to do.

Have you handled the knife yourself and used it in a self defense situation? the reason I ask is that while it is irresponsible to disqualify a design before using it yourself, it is also just as irresponsible to vouch for it and claim that it can do what its designed to do without that same first hand knowledge. If we are going to open with a post disqualifying the opinions of long standing members by way of lack of supporting evidence to their claims, maybe a little supporting evidence for yours is also in order? Maybe?

Yes, I have handled the knife before, and no, I never used it in a self defense situation (thank god). It fits both fist and reverse grip very well, but as we all know that is a matter of personal taste.
But the blade shape is in my oppinion functional for what it is supposed to do, because the arc of the blade shape enhances piercing motions, because you don't have to bend your wrist so much. You can make piercing motion with an almost locked fist. Also the extreme recurve on the blade features most advantages a karambit has for draw cuts or slashing motions, combined with a spear point-ish tip for penetration.
Yet again, in my oppinion Mr. Rostohar has come up with a very good design for his style of knife combat. And my point was that it works with his style. Because as we all know, the best tactical blade is the one you train with. If you have trained your whole life to defend yourself with a sharpened toothbrush (exaggerated example) then it will work for you and the people you train with, and I would not call it a bad design because I am not trained that way.

I registered just to defend and recommend this knife. I attended Dean Rostohar's first ever US seminar this weekend and had an opportunity to train with this knife. He is no mall ninja. If you read his bio on the Fox page, he's a combat veteran of Croatian Special Forces. Also check him out on You Tube. Then tell me if you can tell he lost a leg in the Croatian Homeland War. I trained with him in person and could not tell until he announced it. He's a scary dude, but also kind and a great instructor. If he moves like a ninja, it's because he is one, having trained in Japan under Masaaki Hatsumi, achieving the highest possible Bujinkan rank. Enough about him; more about the knife. His idea was to create a knife that was a cross between a kukri and a karambit. He uses the curvature of the blade to hook the opponent's limbs and the midpoint blade cuts while it hooks. The knife is pricey, but I plan to get the folder and fixed blade. The Chinese knockoff shows that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I have too much respect for Dean's intellectual property to buy the knock off. Anyway, anyone who trains in the Bujinkan should consider buying this knife and attending a Dean Rostohar seminar or training in his dojo in Croatia. Check him out on You Tube to see the unique uses of this knife.

Specwog warrior? It just screams mall ninja in both looks and ridiculous name.

One of those things which qualify as a solution in search of a problem.

As far as knife fighting goes, that's why S&W exists.

screams, "weapon!".
no mistaking it's intended purpose.
nice equal blade length to handle ratio.
hopefully, there will be no wonderfully idiotic future post
about just how miserably it failed in bushcraft...

The knife the OP posted isn't my cup of tea (YMMV) but FOX does produce some very nice knives. Have you seen the new collaboration with Jerry Hossom? They're now making a version of his Retribution Scout and Vengeance and they're out there now and look sweet. I've always LOVED Mr. Hossom designs.

The knockoff knife is pretty sweet seems to be very well built. The Jude's sheath seems about what you'd expect except the hardware is garbage and it doesn't seem to line up with the holes.
I'll probably just get a couple malice clips and run it that way. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good buy.

Hey, a win win situation, right? Get a great deal and support a rip-off fraudulent design thief at the same time! Way to go!

wow, owning a knife like that would allow you to skip BUDS, and go straight to Seal Team 6.

Wow, cracks me up how folks are coming in to defend this thing. Even more amusing is how it's yet another ugly, useless knife designed as a fighting tool by some super knife fight warrior, that at the end of the day won't do the one thing you really want in a knife fight: stop you from getting stabbed.

Dean travels around the world and does seminars. This is the knife he uses and is the furthest thing from a arm chair commando you will meet. .....

Of course he is.

BY the way, that knife is U-G-L-Y and silly, in my opinion.

But...if its the kind of thing that gets somebody's motor running...then they should buy it. It always amuses me when people come around and say they think a knife is the most super bad ass high speed sexy thing ever, and then ask about if its "good."

They dont care if its good. We know it, they know it.

Just be upfront about it. You want some ultra tactical thing with all kinds of stencilling and pointy bits on it....great! But lets not kid ourselves that ANYBODY is actually using those things for what their makers' marketing people are saying they are used for.

Those who are looking for a more effective weapon than this "SPECWOG", please mail me for your free brochure, where I will give you some pointers on using one of the most effective killing/stabbing knives ever made. As a one time only bonus, I'll share a pic from the brochure which walks you through some of the design elements of this, one of the deadliest knives ever made:

Also, I assure you, I am the Real Deal. I have been working on kitchen dojos since I was very young, and I have cooked for multiple members of our Armed Services. Also, I have a fake elbow. You can't even tell.

Those who are looking for a more effective weapon than this "SPECWOG", ....

You know, that's not bad but it is really lacking the amount of stencilling on the blade that I demand in a tactical knife. Lettering, signature, skull wearing a backwards baseball cap and smoking a cigar....that's the kinda stuff that guarantees an effective combat/utility blade.

Trust me. I learned that well when I served in the 324th Knife Fighting Batallion of the San Marino Special Forces.

The 324th is the Jarbenza Battalion kinda sorta like the Gurkha's
