FOX Knives

I've looked at their stuff in the past, but haven't bought any yet. Everything looks to be extremely high quality, IMO. I really like that military camp tool!

so i recently recieved my new fox pro hunter fixed blade (black coated blade with micarta handles). i have to say that i've already built a few knives myself and bought several production knives (benchmades, tops, linders and the like). however when i unpacked the pro hunter i was really impressed - and that doesn't happen very often these days. the quality of the workmanship is really outstanding and the handle fits my hand perfectly. i couldn't find any unfinished spot - neither on the blade nor on the handles - and i'm picky. of course i can't tell anything about the heat treatment of this beauty so far. but i doubt this last detail will disappoint me!

everybody who is able to get hold of one of these fixed for a reasonable price - i paid 95€ which is about 120 bucks - shouldn't hesitate. unfortunately fox doesn't pay me for advertising their products :(

to get a better impression check this youtube video out:

I have never handled one.....but have read good things about them. ^^^ I thought E R was the supplier to the Italian military?? Could be wrong tho ^^^

Fox makes a lot of different knives, from kitchen knives to high end tacticals. I own a few that I'm very happy with, and I had the chance to play with the entire Fox MD line for a magazine article I wrote.

Quality is top notch, there are some models that aren't my cup of tea, but I can't say anything bad about the workmanship. The sheaths are great, too.

I've been carrying an FX-130 M (a micarta handled version of the Pro Hunter) and I'm thrilled with it. Too bad they don't make a plain edge version of the Col. Moschin. I'd be all over that knife if it weren't for the serrations.

It's indeed a reliable brand. Mind you, so are Maserin, Lion Steel and Viper - together with Fox they all reside in the cutlery town of Maniago and they all offer nice quality and that unmistakable italian flair for design and joy of life.

Check put their Pro Hunter, one of the more attractive folders on the market:

hmm that Pro Hunter looks a lot like the new Lionsteel SR-1

Yes there is some similarity at first sight. I think that both knives have the same designer.
At second sight there are a lot of differences, not least of which is the SR-1's frame lock compared to the liner lock of the Fox.
But, sure, there is a family feel.

IIRC, Fox built the Ontario/Hossom Retribution knives. I've got one of the big ones and it is a solid, well made knife. I'd buy Fox again.

If you don't know, FKMD is a Fox brand (Fox Knives Military Division), and they make rather serious tactical stuff.

I have...and an overbuilt FKMD military interpretation of a swiss army knife, the "MPSK Survival Camp Tool":

Wow! Gotta get me one of those!

The two knives have the same designer: Molletta and the same maker: LionSteel.

My experience with Fox has been very positive. I was so impressed with the Fox made Spyderco Volpe, that I promptly bought two. As I recall, the Spyderco/Jerry Hossom collaboration was also made by Fox Cutlery. Fox seems to like N690Co or 440C for many of their blades and I like them too.

"Spyderco Volpe" were a collaboration from Spyderco, Fox and LionSteel.

Just visited their US facility today and met Mikey, one of their designers. Great feeling knives, great people, picked up a simple edc knife, and can't wait to use it a bit. Also told me he would sharpen it for free for life: bonus!!!

Feedback to follow.

FYI, cool bit of info: they are distributed here by Blade-Tech, another brand I like. a 2fer day for Jim!!!

dagon thanks for the pics & info on fox. i've always thought they were a decent brand but the ones you featured are exceptional.

The Col Moshin is a great looking folder which I'd buy in a minute if there was a Canadian distributor. It reminds me a bit of the Pohl Force folder which ,luckily for me,is available from a Canadian seller.
It's always a surprise to me when a hardcore knife like the Moshin is almost unknown and yet a very expensive, yet meek and mild small folder like [ for example] the Sebenza, is raved about on a daily basis.

FOX makes some knives for TOPS. The folder I have has excellent fit and finish with a N690Co blade .

The Pro Hunter is a very nice looking knife, no doubt! It seems like I read that the blade is 4 or 5 mm thick? The only thing I would like to see Fox do would be to put thicker liner's on it. The current ones look to be around 1.5mm, .060" thick. Going up just 1/2 mm to 2 mm would give you liners at .080" that would give you more surface coverage on the .156" to .187" thick blade. I'm all about the number's!!:D;):)
