I think thats pretty amazing. Did you make the diamond patterning with water cutting too? You have some explaning to do.

What kind of cost would a textured tang like that add to a blank you cut?

Does it involve a seperate step or can it be done at the same time as cutting a profile?

Here's some pics of the knife coming together. I still have a lot of finish work to do, but so far so good.

JT, it took several attempts at getting the program right. I did make one program to do the whole thing. I made a grid of the pattern I wanted to etch and inserted the part into that. Takes a while to get the bugs out. I will be making several different patterns. Even though in the pics the diamonds look huge, the lines are only .025" to .030" deep. Thats on .140 Ti.

Okay, I love it. So I'm going to make a suggestion that's a bit nitpicky, but I absolutely love the pattern -

Could the checkering lines be 'skipped' forming the flat diamond shapes like you see around screw points on checkered gun stocks? Just around the pin holes, I think.

Or is the titanium held vertically in the machine for the diamond cuts?

pretty cool David, how are you going to break the edges, just grinding, the cut out flipper is nice too!Regards Butch

The edges will be rounded when I'm done. I am working on several other patterns to try out.;)
