Framelock over-engagement fix?

I've got a custom framelock whose engagement is just about 100% -- the black smudge goes fully across the tang.

It's secure -- not slipping or anything -- but I'm worried about vertical play as it wears in. (Engagement point on it moved from 50% to almost 100% within a few months.)

How can framelocks be adjusted so the lockup goes back to 25%-50%?

I assume it's not something I can do at home?

Thanks.

biogon: The only fix is to lengthen the locking bar, either by peining it or by putting it in a vise with a hardened pin in the frame's relief area and squeezing it.

Of course, this may affect the fit of the detent ball in the blade tang.

I'd contact the maker and see what they say.

Mr. Martin & KnifeWerks,

Ahh, interesting.... thank you for the comments and advice.

I'll drop the maker a line and see what he thinks.

I was kind of afraid that the solutions would be that complex. Perhaps I'll wait until it develops problems before sending it....

Thank you both!
