Frames for mounting portable band saw

I've read a number of posts about building a frame and table to use a portable band saw as a vertical band saw. I would love to see pictures of what you all have for portaband setups. Descriptions and advice welcome. I'm trying to come up with a design that requires minimal fabrication and utilizes readily available parts.

Thanks in advance.

While I planned to build a frame to mount mine, as I was looking at it and what I had available, I found that I was able to securely clamp it to a portable work stand. Basically, I removed the blade cover and C-clamped the metal frame of the bandsaw to the work bench. I notched the cover so I could still put it on. I also placed a sliding clamp over the handle to the work bench and used some rope to tie down to the table as well from the top handle. I have to use a clamp to keep the trigger down as the trigger hold button on my HF cheapie didn't work. Again, I thought about building a frame, but after clamping it all down, it's not moving anywhere. In fact, I can tip over the table before the bandsaw moves. I'll post a picture when I get home.

Thanks Nathan,

I saw a picture of your set-up on your WIP thread. Would love to see a close-up of the mounting/clamping configuration when you have time.

Here's what I have. I think it is as simple as you can get. Just use 2 pieces of 2" angle... Attach to the wall... remove the handle from the Dewalt saw and attach it to the angle using the same holes and bolts that originally attached the handle... Oh ya, and you have to drill 4 holes in the angle too!!!

This saw is really cool. It has a built in work light and the variable speed control is a rheostat. That makes it so much simpler to use than the ones built into the trigger. I zip tied the trigger in the on position and plugged the cord into a switched outlet to turn it on and off...
One nice thing about this is that I can take it off the wall and use it as a portaband in about 2 minutes!!!

Good Luck!

I have the HF porta band. Took off the top handle and got a 1"X1/4" piece of steel and drilled 2 holes to match the handle holes and attached it to the porta band using the handle bolts and then drilled 2 more holes and used 2 carrage bolts to attach it to a 2X4 in the garage wall. Works like a champ and the whole deal cost me less than $80. Oh, if you go this route get new blades, the HF blade that comes with the porta band sux.

Simple wood frame, saw sits in a little curved cutout and is bolted to a wood brace where the handle use to be. I would clamp to bench to use. Worked well.

Only pic I have at work
