Once again, I sent a knife to Frank Recupero for a facelift. This time an Emerson Commander. Got it back the other day and wow is this one nice! Ironwood handle, fileworked top and bottom, plastic spacer replaced with ivory inlaid ironwood. He even replaced the factory black screws and cleaned the black crap off of the clip to a nice mirror finish.

Here is a sample:

Aw man thats sweet! If it's not too rude, what does something like that cost? I have some that need tuning too!

Frank said he would make a similar knife for $200

I think you left off the e-mail address. I have a couple of knives that need Frank's attention.

Wow, that's beautiful! I just received an AFCK that Frank customized with Ironwood scales, a fluted horn spacer and filework, and it is also a work of art. That Commander is really something special...I considered having an M2 AFCK modified, but went the older ATS-34 version instead, primarily because I didn't think the black coated M2 blade would lend itself to the desired "organic" appearance of the Ironwood scales. I can see that now that I may have limited myself prematurely; the polished filework is absolutely stunning against the black coating! Still, fileworked M2 may have led to rust problems...

Frank's talent is awesome, and he has a great turnaround time and very reasonable prices. If you have a favorite production folder, I can't think of a finer gift for yourself than giving Frank the opportunity to work his magic on it. The guy's a magician!

My god....

That is just amazing....at a reasonable price as well i might add. Looks like I'll be buying that AFCK M2 after all....

Actually Jim, if I had a choice, I would have preferred a satin finished blade. This is now my daily carry knife and I'm constantly concerned about scratching the darned thing!

I'm jealous. Your knife is awesome. Just the right amount of work without going overboard.

Awesome! The wood is beautiful (do you know what he does to put that finish on?), and the fileworked liners are really sweet. The fileworking on the spine is a little over the top for me, but I am pretty picky about that thin line between perfect and a little too much. Really beautiful knife, though, and I wish I had the $200 for something like it! Somehow, though, I doubt that even Frank could make a Pioneer I look pretty!
