FrankenLeek Pictures

Yeah, I have left overs. But I have plans for them. Not sure what
the plans are yet, but I'm planning on planning that out......when I
get time to plan my plans.
:D

oh i've waited so long to do this...

Very cool combinations!

The polished stainless looks great with the matte black!

I was actually looking for the shinier black from the older CRK's... but i lost my first one and can't get them new anymore...

What the?!?! That's the same exact pair of Frankenleeks I posted a month or so ago. A polished standard and a CKT combo edge, with swapped blades and clips. Where's that thread of mine???:D:D

Oh wait, nevermind:o I just found the pic. Not exact, but very close! I like the black and silver contrast. I got the idea from the OCC Leek.

Yours turned out really well, qqfob.

hehe i know Johnny, except mine aren't hand polished they came SS (Super Shiny?)

try some Mother's metal polish on the handle... I think it will work great.

Wow, those are some sharp looking knives.

Oh crap. Did I really write that? Time to walk away from the keyboard...

:D

Good looking knives though!

Nice, I thought that blade looked REALLY good, and was about to compliment you on your polishing skills:D The SS designation stands for Shiny Stainless if I recall correctly. Haven't seen too many Leeks in the SS version, but lots of Chives. Either way, nice Franken project. They look good.

Hopefully, my Franken-Leek isn't too Blasphemous. But, I wanted a smaller deep-front pocket knife and I am not a big fan of the ergos, blade shape and function of the Chive. Yet, I wanted a Ken Onion A/O at about 3.25" closed, so:

I am very happy with how it came out, but I would have preferred a flat ground blade, lighter handle and higher end steel than the 440A. :thumbdn: :(I can get the cheapo 440A reaosonably sharp, but it doesn't get as sharp as I would like and it doesn't stay sharp nearly long enough for my preferences.

Flat grind S30V or better steel with Titanium would have been great. I have about 4 Leeks, but I missed out on the ZDP-Ti Leeks. It sounds like that would have been ideal. :o

Does anyone have an "accurate" weight comparison between the Titanium Leeks vs. the stainless handled Leeks?

DWRW - I'm gonna dub that the "stubby"....

...and go make one for myself!

Sweet mod dude.

J_Curd,

Glad you liked it.

If you would like, just send me two Ti-ZDP Leeks - One for me and one for you... And I will make one for each of us. ;)

Not blasphemous at all, DWRW:thumbup: I think it turned out really nice, and I can always appreciate somebody picking up the tools and doing their own mods. You learn the most about the knives you love when you get your hands dirty and work on them yourself.

I like it,

The black handles on a silver blade are my favs. I ordered a composite Shallot last night. Now I'm going to have to order a black Shallot and switch blades.:D

Pook. Excellent choice on the composite shallot. SPX has done the exact same swap and there is a thread showing it around here somewhere. the blade and handle of the composite shallot are thinner than the black shallot. remember that the only parts from the black shallot that you will use will be the handle slabs. the screws, washers, blade, and spacers will all have to come from the composite shallot.

happy modding!
