Then why was the user's account still open and with all positive reviews? You're saying that same user ID is sitting on a negative list? How does that make any sense?

Their account was still open after the thread cray posted because they did not do something bannable nor did they do anything that could warrant a negative feedback. It was just something that occured that the OP thought the community should be aware of.

There is no "negative list". There is the numerical feedback system and the GBU forum. It is a good idea to check both out prior to making a deal.

Sorry, but warning folks not to do business with someone who is not also considered bannable makes no sense to me, no matter how you phrase it. If you make the warning list, you should be gone IMO.

Some folks take exception to how a deal went down, how someone treated them, how timely someone fulfilled their purchase, their ethics or how they choose to sell to one party over another.

They aren't necessarily offenses that would lead to someone being banned, but it might raise enough of a question in another member's mind as to whether they want to deal with them.

That's why there are positive / negative / neutral reviews available, and why these sorts of threads exist.

Clear and convincing evidence of criminal intent or defrauding members will lead to being banned immediately by staff.

Also, there are many times that the someone bringing an allegation is the someone who needed to be chastised for their own behavior.

We do the best we can with the time and resources available. You can decide for yourself if it's worth your investment of time and money.

Did you read the thread?

The guy apparently made a mistake and was a little rude. Nothing that he did was bannable, but sharing the situation allowed others to make up their mind if they wanted to do business with them.

That was 4 years ago and there were clearly some that did not want to do business with him but then around a couple dozen that didn't care. (Or never looked in the GBU.)

This was apparently a hacked account situation. If this scammer actually did hack the guys account, the original users background has no bearing anyways.

I don't know. One could argue that someone who acts like an idiot is more likely to have a less secure account because they are dumb.

I said no such thing. I said I put him on my personal ignore list because of the way he acted years ago.

My advice stands. Always search a user name here before doing business. If there is any dirt, have a look and see if it is still worth the risk.

Unfortunately, you are the one not understanding what may or may not be obvious to others.

We appreciate the thanks, but I believe you're missing some salient facts in your decision making.
Please share. What am I missing? Where should I be searching? I have another member offering me another knife that I am seeking. How should I be investigating this member outside of their past performance ratings? Craytab says that he/she has a "personal ignore list". Such a list helps no other members. What "salient facts" am I missing?

I believe what they are saying is that along with the feedback system, you should also use the search engine feature to search GBU threads for possible bad behavior or behavior you would consider bad and not want to deal with the person
Not all behavior is viewed the same by different members. Some may just not like the guys attitude and put them on their ignor list. It is a personal thing and not necessarily rule breaking.
Hacked accounts are a seperate problem and the solutions I can think of off hand are to pay G&S or use a credit card for F&F

Search where?

Seriously? You've been here 5 years and you don't know how to search or what the ignore list is? Seems to me you need to get out of buying and selling a little and learn how to protect yourself on the forum.

My ignore list is to protect me and no one else. Any person who acts in a way that would make me uncomfortable to possibly get into a transaction with them in the future goes on it, in the least to remind me not to do business with them long after I've forgotten their transgression. And honestly, because of how you are handling this, you'll be on it. No offense intended, just wouldn't want to do a future transaction with you based on how clueless you are with how things work. Screen shot below of how to search a person's posts in the GB&U. Take care!

LOL... You better get me on that list then. I guess you expect everyone to be born with your level of knowledge, and learning is not an option. I think we've now beat this issue to death. In all seriousness, I really do appreciate the education.
