Frayed pocket hem from clips?

Can't argue with the utility of a clip for easy access, but does anyone have a suggestion for how to avoid getting a frayed hem on the pocket? I have lots of pants with a frayed hem from teh clip riding over it going in & out. In some cases I have resorted to bending or loosening the clip, but sometimes that allows a knife to slip out while sitting,driving/etc, sota defeats teh purpose of keeping the knife handy for use. I was wondering whether knife makers should make teflon coated clips or something else that would be easier on the pants. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yup, all my jeans have pocket clip disease. I have been thinking how to fix or prevent that myself.

Every knife I have carried with a pocket clip , frays the pocket area where they meet.
The man who invents a non fraying pocket clip is going to make some cash.

The only clips that don't fray pockets are the old FRN integral ones like on the original Delica from Spyderco and what came on the Catcherman before it was discontinued. These bent easy and were sometimes a pain in that regard but they were much kinder to pants pockets.

Every pair of pants I own has frayed pockets with holes in the corners. (from Wave testing the ones I do for people and myself) It goes with the territory.

You can sew a piece of leather onto the pocket where the fraying is occuring. Kind of fold it over that part, and you will be fray-free.

You can get small iron on repair patches at the drug store. I had a wallet with a brass button that would constantly wear a small hole in my pockets. I bought some iron on repair patches and it mended the hole and reinforced the area where the brass button made contact with my pocket.

That is a neat Idea lol its the new fashion trend from AE or Aeropostale lol. Everyone will have little leather squares on the inside of thier jeans, I like that idea, plastic might work too but leather's alot cooler.

The leather idea is cool, but I don't care about frayed pockets. I have dealt with it for years and it doesn't bother me anymore. I may try the leather thing though just for kicks.

Remove the clip and just drop the knife into your pocket.

I haven't had any problems with pocket fraying and I've had a Spyderco DoDo clipped to my back pocket for almost 5 months now and previous to that I had a Pacific Salt back there with no problems.

Now, I do have a problem with my flashlights wearing holes in my rear pockets.

Every knife I have has frayed my pocket. There is no particular brand. And I have been carrying knives for years.

if you want to frayed your pocket after only one use... try using the dark ops knives...the clip is extremely tight and they put kindda papersand on the handle behind the clip, that could destroy any pocket faster that you could say "what's the f;;ck!! "

i have been using BM940 for month, handle is alu and not agressive at all, does'nt frayed my pockets !

When my knives fray my jeans to a point that it looks tacky, I just buy more Levi’s.

Yup, that has been MY solution as well!! great minds think a like!!

I've never noticed that with any clipping folders. Maybe it's because I wear cargo pants instead of jeans? Has anyone else noticed if it's worse on jeans or equally bad on both?

When you have frayed pockets it shows you use your EDC. Fraying only occurs when yrou knife is taken in out of the pocket.
