Is it just me or does anyone else want to see more of Fred Perrin's designs made by Spyderco? IMO the Street Beat is one of the best production knives ever offered in the $150 range. I missed out on the earlier model Fred P. and would love to get my hands on one. It would be great to see a true La Griff made by Spyderco and not just the SPOT.

Yeah I know I may sound like a :jerkit: but don't care.

:)

i liked the spydie perrins too, at the MSRP they were pretty close to real perrin prices though, so i looked for a "deal" but they were good knives and i would like to see more but at a lower price.

They seem to have bad luck finding the right combination that will sell well enough to be popular (IMO). The first Perrins were darned good priced but since they were not a full tang and put in some of that "ubber plastic" handles folks worried about their strength. An unjustified worry (again IMO) as it would a focused Nossian effort to break one. The Spots did OK but not enough appreciated the S curve blade for what it could do. The "Son of Spot" (the Swick) was a fantastic warnie but seemed to suffer from deafening silence in the acclaim dept. (I was one of about three people who championed that beauty).

Finally they did the full tang Street Beat with gorgeous micarta handles, hand fit onto the tang. This raised the price above the magic price barrier that shies off a large buying population.

The Riddle of the Fixed Blade seems to be a subset of the "Riddle of Steel" for Spyderco.

We have another "Swick" run in-the-works (Fred gets a royalty on the index finger hole).

We made a large Perrin Fixed blade exclusively for Fred. Green & black.

We have a Fred Perrin folder in-the-works.

Cool. I might have to blow the dust off the casual bombshell thread...:D

Will the Swick have the same dimensions and blade or will it enjoy a Spyderco tweak".

A folder in the works eh? Ever since I got the Street Beat I wanted one in folder form. Could it be? :D

Will the new Swick be distinguishable from the old? Maybe the new one could be satin finish instead of sand/bead blasted?

we added our trademark round hole.

The first run was coarse tumbled (stone wash). Satin is done by hand and would increase the cost.

I hope it comes with a G clip...or at least give us the option to order g clips from the online store.

You should be able to get the G-clips directly from SFO. If you have any problems getting them, contact me, as I usually try to have some on hand. Spyderco did a heck of a job with them, and I find myself using them more and more.

I wish they had them on the online store but sadly they don't. :(

That is the second time you've offered me some of yours Mr. Sastre, I guess I should take you up on that. :o

I need a decent kydex sheath for the large Hossom and perhaps a Busse or two, I guess I should give you a call to work out the details?

Zen,

Feel free to contact me anytime. Don't know why the G-clips aren't listed online - you might try giving SFO a call. "try to have some on hand" is a little tongue in cheek - when I get below a hundred, I order more, so I always have enough. They are very well made!

The next run of "Swicks" will be 500 pieces and will be sold through SFO only. No sheaths or handles will be provided. It's a follow up run due to requests.

I know that Mike Sastre and Scott Gere both make sheaths and both can provide Spyderco's G-clips. there are also others making sheaths like Eric N.

There are also a few making handles as well.

I am also excited about the Swick coming out I hear they will be pretty exciting. I really enjoyed the large handle as to the spot, different blade but really nice. I have extras of the sheaths from the last run if anyone is looking for an extra. So if specs are the same they should work exellent! I also think the Perrins are a great fitting knife to the hand and would really like to see that blade in a folder. I am a lefty, hope it works.

Scott,
