would make me pee my pants like a scared dog. But there is no such thing at this time. What I did want to do is point out the new sticky by Progunner :)

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455468

Just incase anyone missed it buried up there and I figured this would do two things:

1) Get your attention so you could read it
and
2) Get your blood pumping only to have it dashed against the rocks cause the reactions typed out are hysterical.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm taking a 5 minute head start before the mob gathers to get me :D

That was a dirty, dirty trick :p That tops even the Ganzaa shinanigans though so I suppose I should give you props...LOL

Well I personally find that Progunners "sticky" is unnecessary and off putting to people new to the forum.

People new to the forum should feel EXTREMELY comfortable asking questions, not told to "use the search function".

What's the point of it? To make newbies feel uncomfortable asking questions and reduce discussion and new posts?

I love to answer questions when I can, even ones that seem stupid to people that have been on the board for a while.

i think the point of the sticky is to help educate new people so they have an idea of how things operate. and hopefully to limit complaint threads.

When I go to a forum new to me and there is a "sticky" at the top of the page telling newbies to "use the search function" so that it doesn't clog the forum with stupid questions (clearly that's what is implied), I'm inclined to not participate at all.

Alright, thanks for your input. I wrote it quite late/early, but I don't recall saying, "Hey you new guys, don't ask any questions! Here the info now sod off!" For the record Matteo, I have found innumerable posts you have made over the last few years off putting, but I have bitten my tongue up until now. You have a right to your opinion. So thanks again for letting me know how you feel.

So you have the ability to take the dimensionally flat words used here and ascribe an implication? Perhaps that is your feelings about the new guys slipping through. On my end it is a suggestion for folks who want to do it themselves and get frustrated with not getting any results. Now if more folks than yourself feel that I am impplying that new folks shouldn't "clog the forum with stupid questions (your words not mine literally or implied), then I will change it according;y or delete it all. Either way, I leave it to my forum brothers and sisters. I hope that you don't stop making meaningful contributions to the forums just because of your interpretation of my words of advice to our new brothers and sisters.

PG-

I think your sticky and the general idea are a great idea. I don't read it negatively, but some people could read the phrase "please do yourself and the rest of us a favor" in the wrong way. Something along the lines of "one great place to start is..." might be another approach to take.

Again, I don't think it is negative, but that's just me and I've been here for a while now. Everybody reads things differently.

Thanks for taking the effort to address these types of issues before they get out of hand (and thanks to ThatMGuy for his efforts recently as well.

Dan thank you for your constructive and direct criticism along with a suggested edit. I will definitely reread it. Like I said it was not at my peak hour. I appreciate your input.

PG,
I did not take what you wrote in a negative context either. Just thought I would let you know:thumbup:

I find that a friendly reminder to use a search function to be a great idea. Sometimes, we take that idea for granted. Some will still miss that idea, and we help them, so if they have that thinned of skin, then Lord help them when I hijack one of their threads. :D

People are getting uglier these days and unhappier. If they are easily offended, they shouldn't be on the internet in the first place. We have a good time here, have a few guidelines and suggestions to help those aclimate to the environment here that has run so smoothly since before they joined that sometimes, added input just won't take. Just like some organs are rejected by a body that won't accept them. However, the preparation of matching blood types, helps prevent that from happening and I believe that Progunner has done just that. He has assisted the organ in changing it's blood type to fit in the body without changing it's self to another style of organ.

Bottom line: That sticky is there to help people. If they find it offensive, well they need to put on their big boy pants and think about the intentions of it. You can't see body language, hear the tone of voice or the volume on the internet so if someone were to judge that post based on the words and form the wrong judgement, rather than factor in the attitude and welcoming environment that many offer, then they can go pee in someone else's cheerios.

Good Post Brother Progunner. This forum is full of happy drunks and happy sober cigar smokers. We're polite, we welcome all to join in. If they feel it's not for them, no worries. If they like it here, they learn how things work and the older guys are always willing to accomidate that transition period. Case in point? Peter La. No offense to Peter, but a great example.

I really hope you take it as a comment and not criticism. I definitely mean it only in the most positive way and would never have even said anything at all if you hadn't asked for input. It reads just fine as it is now, unless someone is "looking" to find something to take offense at, and for that type of person it won't matter how "correctly" you word it.

Keep up the good work! Our Mods are the best on BF!

Don't be a drag :D

Oh no you don't! I already don't feel good, that will make me hurl!

I'll hijack any thread, any day of the week, even my own. :D
