Who has had good experience with other photo/scan/album sites still offering free service? Website/contact info?

Thanks--Will

Two words that are rarely used together are "free" and "service", and poor service isn't worth what you paid for it, even if it's free.

Plenty of folks have jumped from Photopoint, and everytime I receive one of their busted links to the new sites, I just chuckle. I wouldn't recommend that you use any of them. I'm sure that other sites will pop up, and that people will get better at using them, but for now, $10 for 1000 pictures is a drop in the bucket to get relatively consistent service.

On a related note, now that the bargain hunters have dropped off, Photopoint seems to really be much faster and more reliable.

The only problem is that they're not asking $10 for 1000 pictures. Here is the lastest advertisement:

I have started moving some of my photos to www.zing.com .Seems to be ok. A bit clumsy to navigate until ya get the hang of it, but it works well after that.

I think Brian is talking about the offer PhotoPoint made as an offer to people who signed up early, (1000 pics $10 a year). I've had a Zing account for some time, never used it, I'm sticking with PhotoPoint until I do my own website.

Maybe this will help some of you decide?

I think photopoint will still be free if you have ten images or less. so it will still be useful and free for a lot of people. I will still use it, as I only had a few pics there anyway.

if you have some really nice pics to share....consider paying for a website.

a domain name will cost ~$1 a month, hosting can be had for $5 a month. So for ~$6 you can have a personal domain name, an ad-free website, and personalized emails@yourdomainname.com.

if you can share/split the cost with a buddy, you're down to ~$3 a month each.

I am EXTREMELY impressed with this photo-hosting website:

www.clubphoto.com

It has an excellent "photo drop" feature that makes uploading very easy and saves a lot of time.

Oh yeah, and there's none of those annoying banners on your pictures.
Trust me, this is a really great website.
