Free Black Walnut wood, NOT STABILIZED. I would love to see these go to a paid knifemaker on here, but not necessary. USA only please.

*If this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move where it should be.*

I have a few samples of Black Walnut that I would like some opinions on and I am willing to send it to you for free, 1 per person please.

-Please let me know if you would use it on a knife/project or just for kindling.

-Let me know how the quality of the wood is, poor, fair, good or excellent.

-If you use it one a knife/project, I would love to see some pics.

-If you stabilized it, oil it up or put a paint or acrylic on it, did you do the job or did you have it sent out.

-Do they have enough character or are they boring pieces.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

These blocks were crudely cut but I figured they would be sanded/grounded/milled to the contour of the knife/project.

These all came out of my backyard, we had 200+ tree logged out, so these are from the tops, there is quite a few nice logs.

Here are the spec and dimensions of the blocks,

Set 1- 5 7/8” long X 1 7/8” wide X 7/8” thick-SPOKEN FOR

Set 2- 5 7/8” long X 1 7/8 wide X 1” thick-SPOKEN FOR

Set 3- 5 ½” long X 2” wide X ¾” thick-SPOKEN FOR

Set 4- 5 ½” long X 2 1/8” wide X ½” thick-SPOKEN FOR

Set 5- 5 7/8” long X 1 7/8” wide X 5/8” thick-SPOKEN FOR

Set 6- This set would be great for pen/pencil set, 5 7/8” X 1 1/8” wide X 15/16” thick-available

Pics go in order, please let me know the one you want and PM where to send it.

Thanks

EDIT-If you are wondering why I am doing this, I am thinking of going on a business adventure and before I lay out $10,000+ for a Sawmill, I would like some feedback first.

That is by far the lightest-colored walnut I've ever seen. Is there something wrong with your camera? Or am I just missing something?

James, It is darker in person than the pics, so I would assume it is my camera skills.

Here is a pic of a block after after a short sanding (220 grit) and light oiling. Sorry pics are not the best.

# 5 and 6 are still available.

EDIT #6 is the only one left.
