"Free" clips and hardware

Big time Benchmade fan here, because of the knives and because of the service. The service is not just clips and screws sent for free.
The service includes friendly people answering the phone and giving excellent assistance.
Buy a used BM with a broken spring for a great price?? Send it in, all hardware is replaced and they'll sharpen it, if you want, all for free.
I'm sure the service is figured into the price of the knife and I'll gladly pay it.
Wish more companies did it.

PS....blade swaps are another service offered. Priced very fairly!! Coated M390 blade swap for a 581 cost me $40....and they changed all hardware.

You're not paying for clips and screws. You're basically buying an insurance policy that was included in the cost of your knife. Think about what you pay to insure your car, your home, your health, and your life. How many thousands of dollars do you dump into a service that you hope to never need but still pay for?

The knife companies are basically ponying up a few bucks from each of us to cover the cost of us potentially breaking/bending a wear item so that everyone can have access to the service should they need it. Once again, just like insurance, you aren't paying for YOUR car. You're paying for you likelihood of getting into a wreck. Your money is going in a collective pot to be divvied out when needed to all policy holders...with just a little bit being held back so those poor insurance companies can scratch a living;)

The only difference is that I'm sure the whole knife clip free replacement isn't a money maker for the manufacturers. They may even operate at a slight loss because some egg-head analyst formulate that for every no hassle pocket clip/screw gimme, a customer might buy 1.3433 more knives from that company. Thus they lose $5 in material and shipping but net a probable $75 profit over an unknown $80 they may get.

In short, I like it.
