Yes that is what I am offering. Free handle material. All I am asking is that it be used fairly soon and tell me how you like it. This is some stabilized material I have done myself. I met a local wood seller who does his own stabilization and he has graciously set me up with his process. I just did a batch at K&G and have done some comparisons. Here are my findings;

I have successfully stabilized Maple, Walnut, Redwood, Ancient Kaury, Koa and Macadamia.

Each has gained approximately 50 to 125% in weight.

The weight is about -.01oz or less per cubic inch compared to K&G

Hardness, Redwood, Untreated 35HD. Treated 78 HD K&G 81HD
Maple, Untreated 51HD. Treated 83 HD K&G 83HD
Walnut, Untreated 68HD. Treated 75 HD K&G 79HD
Koa, Untreated 65HD Treated 81 HD K&G 89HD
These hardness readings are done on random pieces and may vary with each piece both treated and untreated.

Finish quality, The K&G finish is a little easier to bring up to a very fine polish. The wood I have done will take a high polish but benefits from some sort of surface finish.

Here is the wood I will be giving away.

Here is how this will work. The bottom row is the primary numbered from left to right 1-10. First to request by number gets that block plus the corresponding one from the top row. Please PM or email me your address so I can ship these out. I will send them Via small flat rate box. The free shipping is in the US only please. If outside US I will have to ask for shipping costs. I will pay the first $6 beyond that will be your responsibility. Thanks

This is totally free. Just provide some feedback please. Thanks and hope you get the one you want. Good luck!

ETA the last 2 blocks on the far right are Ancient Kaury. They look rather plain but have a deep chatoyance I have never seen before. They are estimated to have been buried over 50,000 years ago. Pretty neat stuff.

UPDATE

Speaking of the Kaury. I sent some in to K&G and I was not very happy with the outcome which is one reason why I started stabilizing myself. Here is a picture of the differences between my stabilizing and theirs.

The one on the left is my stabilizing while the center and right is K&G. The far right you can see it changed color for some reason dramatically. I would not mind to terribly but it also appears that somewhere in the process the wood was cracked severely. I do not blame K&G it is what it is. But the color of the new process is more true to natural and does not crack the wood. I did 8 in the new process and none of them cracked or changed color. If anything it enhanced the grain.

If 8 is still available, I would like to try it please. I have a few projects in need of some handles. I am a novice maker (of any sort) so my review will be unbiased since I have not worked with much of anything other than micarta. If you would like to offer this to more experienced makers I completely understand.

Skyler,

I will send #3, the first Violet block and the natural Maple directly above. Each person gets one from the Bottom row and the corresponding block on the top.

Josh, #1 and 2 are Koa, well # 1 is black acacia or Australian Koa. Can't tell the difference. #7 is redwood and still available. Your choice.
