Free knife (how to clean up a mistake)

Wow, that's a great story. it cleaned up really well. I'd carry it for sure. Glad you had the opener, that looks like it could break a thumbnail in a heartbeat. Awesome restoration and story.
 
You could charge $50 each for a "pocket worn, aged and patina'd effect on your new knife" service. Could be a good business idea.
 
Very nice "detail" job to get the detrimental rust layer off and bring this thing to a presentation that I would not hesitate to pay for it buying a 100+ year old vintage knife that still snapped open/shut - I find that had that kind of patina and character desirable, in the right case even a selling point.
