No, this is not some gimmick or scam. If you don't like what I have to offer, that is up to you, but please do not flame, it is uncalled for.

I believe this is a mutual benefit, win-win proposal for SOME people, certainly it is not for everybody.
In order to get a free Kydex sheath, you will have to meet the following conditions:
1) You must be willing to send your knife in to me to have the sheath custom molded (insured and tracked shipping);
2) Your knife must be well used and worn (I will explain this in a moment);
3) Your knife must be of a model that I do not already have in stock, and it must be from the Busse family - Busse, Swamprat or Scrapyard (PM me and tell me what you have, and I will let you know)
Okay, here's the deal:
I make and sell Kydex sheathes (obviously!). I have found that most people are, understandably, reluctant to send in their knives to have the sheath custom molded, they would prefer to buy something that is already in stock. While I do get customers willing to send in their knives, I also lose a lot of customers from not having some models of sheathes in stock and ready to sell without shipping a knife first.
At the same time, I cannot afford to buy one of every Busse family knife ever made- I wish I could, but lets be honest, I work on a small budget here, and that is a lot of capital.... If you are another Kydex maker and you have invested that capital, I congratulate you. I haven't chosen to make that large investment, so lets be nice and leave it at that, please.
So, if your knife is a model that I do not have in stock, then you may have the option, if you so wish, to send it to me and I will cast a dozen or so sheathes off of it all at the same time, so I can have a future stock of sheathes for that particular model. In return for that, I will send one of the sheathes back with your knife at no charge to you. I will even pay for the return shipping at my expense.
I do realize that not everybody will like this approach, but some people will see it as a good opportunity for them. Please do not flame me, if you don't like it, thats fine- don't participate. For some people, it will be a nice opportunity to get a free sheath.
So, if interested, please PM me about what model you have and, if possible, send a photo.
Oh, the reason your knife should be well used and worn is that casting sheathes can- on occassion- leave a very minute, almost indetectable rub on the knife. For a brand new knife, some people would object to this, but for a well used and worn knife, it will probably even be impossible to detect the rub- if there is one.
Thanks again for reading!
David
