Hello fellow forum members,

It's been some time since I've posted. Life and all of its glorious pitfalls has taken so much of my free time it's hard to think about.

This thread however is not about me in any way. I know of a problem that exists in our community and I'm hoping someone here can provide a bit of assistance. The basic gist is that I have a dear friend, one of the most famous Master Smiths, who isn't in the best of health. His friends and I believe that the amount of knowledge would be too great a loss if he were unable to share it before further health decline or worse.
We are thinking of hiring a crew to come and video tape him in action but there is only one problem with this. They won't know a thing about knife making! There are far to many things to concider when filming a maker at work. Where to stand, what's important and what needs to be added or edited are just a few issues.

However, if someone from this community has the experience in recording and editing, and can show examples of their work, I believe we can provide you with some one on one sessions as well as some other goodies.

This Master Smith lives in Arizona.

Set up a Hammer In and have it video recorded. Much like what Travis Weurtz and Tim Hancock did

I watched the hammer in video.

Even though he had a microphone, you couldn't hear what's going on because there are a hundred people in the room talking all through his presentation.

I'm glad they will record it better. He showed some good stuff.

I agree that the quality would probably be better if it were just him or other experienced bladesmiths with him. You can find entry level knifemaking information all over the web. Information on the skills it takes to make a high end MS level knife are not as easy to come by.

Have you looked at local clubs or even within the ABS? You might also try the custom forums here. There are several members that frequent customs and have put out videos that are real nice.
