Free spinning pivots: something needs to be done

I don't want anything to spin freely on a pocket knife. At the same time, I don't want things permanently sealed with thread-locker. So yes, shaping the hardware is the right solution. I'd also like to see the trend of using all T-8 body screws continued.

You don't even need anything fancy for the Hinderer pivot. Take apart a pair of nail clippers. Use the end of the lever that connects to the pin. No need for the $80 armorer's tool, no need to make a special tool out of a penny, no need to get a spanner bit that no one seems to carry and you have to order online. And everyone has at least one pair of nail clippers. Most likely you have a dozen, so cannibalizing one isn't a big deal.

As for other knives with spinning pivots, if they don't have places for tools on both sides then I'd pass on the knife.

....or maybe just shorten the pivot screw which converts the Hinderer Proprietary Pivot into the Generic Flat Screw Driver Realm. Ummm, why don't they come this way? :)

I've used a small piece of Scotchbrite and a lot of pressure with my thumb to tighten down spinning screws. It only worked with moderate tightening though. The maroon Scotch has just enough texture to hold it. No moderation of the screw required.

I have used jar opener grip pads on the flat opposite ride to hold the female end with pressure from my thumb while adjusting the male end with my torx driver to hold the female end in place. These pads are very grippy and strong. Worked many times for me. But I am sure in some cases it may not work. I have not yet run into that case though.
