Freedom Just Wont Quit

Satori:

Then I guess this is not a "forum?"

Forums, by their very definition, are places for discussion and debate. I feel the same way about my home, and any guests whom I invite into it. I do not expect someone to acquiese to my opinions, nor refrain from disagreeing with me, just because they may be a guest in my home. Although I do expect them to be respectful. That includes refraining from profanity, threats, and vociferousness.

In fact, I have the upmost respect for anyone who will correct me when I'm wrong.

My first reply, although dissenting, was respectful; and I maintain that anonymously censoring it was cowardly and hypocritical. Any yes, I am "calling out" for debate the person who so impudently deleted it. That also applies to munk, who made a controversial statement but concluded that he didn't want any argument. What kind of pretense is that for a "forum?"

Any you're right, my use of Jesus Christ for comparison purposes was improper. I apologize.

Thanks for your courteous reply.

I do not expect people in my home to always agree with me either, but that's the way it is sometimes. As I said, there are certain conventions that we must follow here.

I am not agreeing nor disagreeing with you here but we must be mindful of the rules and the wishes of our fellow forumites.

And I must add: apology accepted.

DRM, this was a reverence thread, an applause thread, an acknowledgement thread. It was clear to the regulars, though I probably did not make it clear enough in my opening to any infrequent guests. When I asked you not to argue, I trusted that would be acceptable.

And as I've said, it is not neccesary to agree or disagree with any foriegn policy or situation to acknowledge the wonderful courage the Iraq people showed the world this day.

DRM, there is another dynamic at play here. Recently, we've had some political threads/discussions that have taken a bad turn.

I think it's a group consciousness to try to make things a little lighter and positive for now.
