Historically accurate construction and methods.

Maker' description:

"This french trade axe head was constructed using only hand tools and a solid fuel forge (coal). No electricity was used in the forging or shaping of the head. The edge bevels and everything were set by hot rasping as seen in the link provided. However the final dressed edge was touched up on a leather belt. Here is the link to the entire WIP of this exact head. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...ghlight=french This head is made using the wrap&weld method. The body is 1018 and the cutting bit is 1095fg. Edge hardened and tempered. the cutting edge is appx 3" and the head is 5 3/4" long overall. The shaft is hickory, flame blackened and stained. Coated with boiled linseed oil."
