There is something very satisfying about waving an XL Espada from your pocket. I don't own one but I often impress people at my local knife store screwing around with that.
I agree, I wish all the xl's has thumbplates actually. The voyagers are fine without it bc they are so blade heavy they can be drawn and flung out pretty quickly. The frenzy would be wicked with the plate but I guess it would take away from the sleekness a bit.
This and this.
I've been years waiting for a thumbplate on the Hold Out models (bummer now that they're discontinued) and Voyagers, and the XL Recons too.
I've had to mode all of mine in an ugly way to wave them, why not offer all models with it as an aftermarket option CS?!?!
Something you could screw or unscrew easily, removable like thumbstuds or wave plates/disks are.
I think in today's day and age way more knives should come with a removable peg wave like found on the P'kal by Spyderco. A removable thumbplate works too.
I ran across this video with Lynn Thompson talking about the Frenzy. I couldn't watch past that knife though. He seemed drunk or something. The mention of Steven Seagal and the "stabby" look of the Frenzy didn't help.
I wasn't my intention to insult him but re-reading the comment I can see where it was more biting than I intended. Maybe it was me who had too much to drink. That's probably just his style. I'd never seen him in a video.
