This is my first ever Nessmuk, and I'm glad I could get it from Fiddleback. I am so impressed with the resident knifemakers we have here, some really talented guys! Andy does fine work! He got a beautiful piece of ironwood, so I had to get the matching firesteel too. Fit and finish is excellent all around. I can't wait to get it out there and use it!

Tknife,

I may be wrong but you may find that one going to the woods with you while others set at home. I have lots of knives but my Nessmuk seems always to be the one that goes on overnights with me.

One thing about the ones that FB is making, that I really like is the blades are not super thick. That was what made Dale Chudzinski's so nice.

I have a LOT of thick knives, but when I'm outdoors, it seems like one of the main things I use a knife for is food prep and cooking. To me a thick blade feels clumsy and if I am cutting bread, or an apple it feels like I am driving a wedge down thru it. I like the thin slicing ability of FB's type of Nessmuk.

Something I like about that Wilderness Forum Knife that's coming out is it is 1/8". To me that's about the upper end of blade thickness for a really useful woods knife for me.

I know everybody digs these super thick blades they can drive thru car doors and baton wood with and stuff, but I slice stuff and do food prep more on the trail than those other things:rolleyes:

Well, you are coming to the rescue again. I sent you an email about the puuko earlier today. Thanks again!

This thread is making me blush. And Thayne takes WAY better pics than I do. Great stuff there.

That was my first foray into ironwood. Man tuff greasy stuff there, and smells like cofee when you grind it. Nice. Gotta go downtown and get more.

There is another forumite waiting for an ironwood knife too. Then I'll be totaly out of the stuff. (Lord, make more ironwood. Amen.)

Thanks Guys! We've sold our house right now, and are packing to move, so if you're interested in these, please give me your patience.

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

Thanks everyone, and thanks Andy! Definitely a great job on your first ironwood scales. They really feel great in hand. I am mainly a Micarta kinda guy, but something about a nice piece of hardwood does it too!
