Last week I made my first friction folder out of leftovers. Well I still have a few small pieces of steel to short for most projects. So, I gathered some more things out of the scrap box. I cut the tang into a bottle opener. Made some refinements in design. The blade is from antique saw blade. Aluminum liners from stock used to make chopper parts. Handle scales from wood trimmed from a stave for a longbow.

I really like the bottle opener. Comments are appreciated.

Now that's what this forum is all about.
You took a simple old standard idea and added a new twist to it.
I have made several friction folders (have a couple working for Christmas presents, now), and have made lots of beer openers. Not once did the thought ever occur to combine the two. I do make sgian dubh knives with bottle openers instead of blades. They really freak out the security guys at the airport.
