Hi all!

I received today a very pleasant package. My third Mykulmorris' knife. Today it was custom friction folder. I wanted something... Traditional and legal to carry almost anywhere.

Here is my 2.2" wharncliffed friction folder. Morris' made once again one heck of an job. Fit and finish are excellent. Folder is very light and very well balanced. Sorry for crappy pictures. Scales are not black but Burgundy Micarta. I'll add better pictures once I can.

This beauty will be my EDC from this point on.

Here are few quick shots.

Great looking knife! I really like how he makes the bottle opener tang.

One of those Morris friction folders is on my (quite extensive) wish list!

I really like mine that I got from Mykulmorris last year when he first started making them...

Yowza. I'm sold. That's a great folder!!!

And where do you get these beautiful knives?

I love it. I can't say traditional folders, or even friction folders, are my thing, but I really like this one. The price isn't bad either. The wharncliffe blade is great too.

Was the sheath extra? The ones on his site don't have the branding, nor the lanyard hole, just wanted to check. That and I assume I simply send him an email if I was interested in buying one.

Riz:

Yeah, I e-mailed what I wanted. Sheath is very handy when carrying your knife in pocket with other things like cell phones, keys etc. I am not sure if all his friction folders come standard with the sheath. When I made the order, I specifically ordered: "with sheath that has a lanyard hole". Truely outstanding knife. Fit and finish are excellent. Its pure joy to use and carry it. Locking mechanism is also fool proof. I have nothing bad to say about this little beauty. I might later order another one again... Perhaps now with Natural Micarta handles :D

The natural micarta version looks great. The one pictured with that material has an old time or classic look to it. The color is kind of like a burnt orange. Might have to get one now....nooooo.:D

A random question, but are the nickel/silver pins stainless? Not sure if that is a combo steel or you have an option or what. I love my Case sod buster, but the high carbon steel is really sensitive and the pins tarnish easily from the oil in your skin.

So far I have't had problems with Nickel Silver pins Mr. Morris is using. My custom utility knife which was made him too, has nickel-silver pins and are still spottles. That cannot be said for many brass filders, like my case or böker sodbusters (which are taking green oxidizing already)

Brass is nice and doesn't rust but it takes green oxidize quite easily. One reason I prefer nickel-silver, though brass is more "traditional".

Mine did not come with sheath but it was also one of the first ones he made last year. No issues with the pins at all. I normally carry this in a horizontal belt pouch, don't even notice it sitting lengthwise on the belt.

I ordered one from him about 2 weeks ago. I'm really looking forward to it. Seeing this one is making the wait that much longer :D

Michael makes a really nice knife. I have it on my list to get one of his friction folders too. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

That is definitely a good thing.

Also glad to see the reception of his knives. Once I figure out what is going on job wise for me, I think I will be ordering one. Natural micarta and a wharncliffe blade :D:D:D

I thought I would add this here rather than starting a new thread.

I received this Ivory Micarta version from Michael a few weeks ago and I am really liking it. I have opened quite a few bottles with it as well as put a little lower angle edge on it. It came plenty sharp, I just like a thinner edge.

I love the blade shape and the grinds are as good as any knife I own. It sharpened pretty easy (the files are tempered down to 56-58rc), so I will have to wait and see how well it holds it's edge at 10º since I haven't had any real work for it yet, but judging by the knife as a whole I am expecting good performance.

I feel like I got my money's worth for sure, the knife was ready when he said it would be, and the wait time was very reasonable.

those are good looking i love how you can still see the file's profile on the knife, i never owned one of these style of knives before. so i'm wondering when the blades open how does it shut do you just push down on the blade or is there another way i'm assuming you just push down on the blade.

Quite an attractive knife! But I am not sure I am familiar with the concept of a friction folder. Would you mind enlightening me on some specifics? Thanks!
