So yesterday I was killing time after a handle glue up and made this blade.

Hardened tempered and finished.

But when I check maximum excursion -

It looks like the only option is to end up with a really curved banana handle.

I mean it doesn't look horrible I guess.
I'm not against starting over with another blade. It really didn't take that long to make. Any options for a nice looking handle?

Unless my geometry now is as bad as it was in high school... From what I see, if you don't care about the blade edge landing against a spacer or a pin instead of indexing on the choil, you could move it closer to the tip (closed) thus indexing further back on the tail (open). That line gives you a lesser angle it looks like.

But the split tusk thing sounds kinda cool! Hooked handles like that can actually feel kinda nice in the hand...

Hey I actually do have a warthog tusk! I think I would have to supplement it with a piece of micarta by the Pivot Point. Iiiinnnntteerrressstiiing.

How should I handle the tusk void? My thought is to fill the void with jb weld, then split in half on the bandsaw and glue to a stainless liner with a micarta piece for the Pivot section.
