Post your Friction Folders if you got them! Please tell who made them!

I love Friction Folders and I'm trying to add to my collection. They don't seem to come up that often in the trade or sell forum.

If you got them let's see them! I'm trying to find a new blade!!

Thanks All!!!

My latest is a prototype from Obex Design. Reverse tanto, chisel grind. Aldo's 1095 steel. G10 scales. I liked the looks of it.

The materials are Thunderstorm Kevlar scales, stainless liners, orange G10 for the back spacer and rwl-34 for the blade

I'm a huge fan of friction folders. I particularly gravitate to higonokami.

I have a few done by Hattori (picture from japanknifedirect since I don't have my knife or camera with me):

Also another favorite that is larger, by Takeshi Saji:

Friction folders come up fairly often in the Knifemaker's for Sale-Folder forum. Look there.

Ahhh, friction folders. A subject near and dear to my heart.

Here's my Sardinian Resolza after cleaning bunch of rest sardines. Pointy little blade worked well on fish.

Here's a Japanese Higonokami after making a salad. Does this make it a samurai salad maker?:D

I had to reach a certain age to really appreciate friction folders.

I tried to like Sword Peasant knife, but the long tang was just too troublesome. But I really like the Opinel/pattada - style and would like to get a Taramundi style spanish pocket knife.

The Italians do some beautiful looking ones, some simple, some intricate. Thing is, friction folders unnerve me a bit:eek: Opinels OK if you leave the genius locking ring on, they're a particular favourite of mine from an early age. Somehow, I just can't trust myself with friction folders.....

another Opinel owner/fan. Only have a number 7 and 8 so far, standard beechwood with carbone blades.

It's a matter of faith and good knife handling. If you are okay with a slip joint, it's the same handling habits. Don't stab, or bear down on the point, and just use it as a cutting tool. I've come to love my friction folders and actually consider them a bit safer than a slip joint. The blade has to be pushed all the way shut, it won't snap closed on you if you make a little mistake. Once the pressure on the friction blade is stopped, the blade stops where it is. Even if it's 3/4 closed.

Buying and selling must be done outside of this forum, gents.
Make contact via Visitor Message or email, not in the thread.

I don't own a single one, but I have been asking myself why. I really love the look of them.
