Friction Folder Love???

My personal favorites are the Morris file knives friction folders. Sweet bottle opener tang too

Had one of those, but couldn't get used to the jutting tang so I moved it along. Michael made me one without the bottle opener on the tang - don't drink so never needed it. It came very, very sharp.

I had to reach a certain age to really appreciate friction folders.

I have a no. 8 stainless sitting in the kitchen drawer on standby for picnic duty. When I'm older, and I've given away my few knives to my children, my nieces and nephew, I'll probably get a no. 6 carbon and use it for the rest of my days.

I'm clueless on the Higo's. Are these the cheap blades you can find or are they customs?

I've seen some similar blades but they seem to cheap to be really nice.

That is the "cheap" one. They range anywhere from $10-30 for the basic models(basic steel). I have the same one pictured and I love mine. Fit and finish are what you would expect from that price level. The blade rubs, the spine is unfinished, etc... but I feel it is very good for its price. If you like opinels and can appreciate a very old design than you owe it to yourself to try a higo.
There are some really beautiful friction folders in here. One of these days I am going to drop the cash for a nice one.
