Those kuks are mysteriously light. You think your arm is going to sink, as you're handed this huge kukri- WHAT THE?!
They're light. Really light.
It was great meeting everybody from the forum. Lots of friendly people, with smiles and warm handshakes. Jerry Busse had kind words for us all. He has a beautiful heart.
Besides all the great forum members, I got to spend quite a bit of time with John Greco, Kim Breed, Sal Glesser, and Ed Schempp. They're all great folks, and I'm privileged and proud to have had the chance.
Great people abounded. There were these two crazy brothers from KY, the Hoskins brothers...who built a $4000 folder (worth every penny~ beautiful damascus and gold inlay and jewels, wonderful detail)...and then cut a car door multiple times with it. They also had what they called a "dagger". D. Hoskins built it- forged 5160, with a 16" blade. Brother Ray actually wanted the "dagger", but D. wouldn't let him have it.
Lots of beautiful pieces, some priced in the stratosphere. Some priced so low, I felt guilty for not being able to buy them, and sorry for the makers, that their work hadn't sold at such reasonable prices. I left with a bagful of knives to give, keep, trade, and sell (one has already been traded for a nice necklace for Jordy, 2 have designated "giftees"), and one neat little ax that'll be a perfect fighter, that god told me to buy.
It was a great time, and I encourage all who might consider it to come if you can.
John
