Friday For Sale

I may be in the minority here, but I do consider it poor form to intentionally post to claim three knives when you know that you are only going to buy one. Friday's are already confusing enough for everyone (especially Ken & Andy) without a bunch of people kicking back multiple knives that may in turn mess up people downstream who posted for their third or fourth pick only to discover that their first or second pick is now available and now they don't want the ones they scored and so on and so on. I think the most ethical thing to do is to only post for knives that you are willing to buy. I understand backing out when there is a mix up or mistake with the description. That should be the exception rather than the rule though. Let's avoid gaming the system at the expense of others.

Well said Phil. Go after what you like. If you don't get it, you just don't get it. Try again next Friday. I've never thought of "kicking back a couple". That would create a logistics nightmare and there's already enough for the crew to deal with.

^^^This. I personally only go after knives I'm willing to buy. If I'm not feeling one after I receive it, I just flip it and usually first contact the people who tried to shark it after me.

I don't know... I sharked two knives that I ended up passing on last week. I was interested in them based on the teaser photos, but, after their specs were posted, I realized they were both 5/32" or thicker. If they'd been 1/8" or thinner I'd have kept them. But there were plenty of other interested sharks so I passed.

Seems reasonable enough to me.

D.H.

And for that I sincerely say thank you kind Sir !!!

It turns out that the KEB in CPM-154 that you threw back into the shark tank last week came with a rare tapered tang. It was listed as having a skeletonized full tang due to an oversight when the listing was being drafted. Needless to say I now believe in Unicorns :D

I can only speak for myself but if I had to sort through the Friday postings and everyone was calling their top 3 with the intention of only taking 1 knife from the 3 and throwing back the rest, I would get frustrated with the extra work. I can understand certain circumstances, such as yours, but as a standard practice that would be a pain for the person determining what knife goes to whom. This is coming from someone who's internet likes to SLOWWW way down on Fridays for some reason I would stand to benefit from the practice.

When someone says I'll take it they should mean it. Or else fiddleback Friday's are going to be more hectic then they already are for the folks at FF

This is one reason I wish they'd change from only requesting to requiring the full description in the "I'll Take It" posts. You'd know what you're buying.

Andy has said it's not going to change though.

Even with that being the case, it would be an absolute chaotic madhouse if everyone was claiming 3 with the intent of throwing them back. I'd be in the boat of if you say you'll take it, you should take it.

I forgot to welcome cuttingboard and sharpsteel6249 to the forum. Have fun giving it a go in the shark tank tomorrow if you see something you like. If you don't get lucky tomorrow, keep trying. You day will come as you get more comfortable with the system.

Phil

Nice to meet you and thanks for the response to my post. I figured it was inappropriate, but thanks for confirming.

I'm only speaking to what I think is the right thing to do. Can't speak to what Andy/Ken prefer.
