Wouldn't you just know it?. I have the day off and wake up at 4:23 :grumpy:

My main plan for the w/e is to get the pigpen of a shop straightened up and get my grinder situated. Hopefully I'll get that done and have time to get started on my soldier knife. They are having that big traveling cheap junk sale at the coliseum. Might pick up a few disposatools and some pulleys for the grinder. What does the first few days of the new year hold for you guys?

Wish everyone a safe , happy and prosperous 2005

Sittin' down with my old man and my brother to watch all three extended Lord of the Rings flicks back-to-back tomorrow.

Got a piece of micar(hart)ta here that I made last night. It's one of the things I've been waiting for to finish the Peter Nap-style butter knife I'm making for my sister, so Sunday I'll probably try to make some progress on that, as well as a filet knife I have on order. (Hmm. I should probably grab my lathe & drillpress and move them to the new shop some time, too.)

Finish my Iraq knife. Go to the store and see if my Bow is ready or if I don't get my christmas present till next year :grumpy: Pay my tuition for the next quarter :grumpy: and then cry until the party starts tonight

Have a good one everybody :D

Grind a big hippo tooth to smooth to see if the piece I need for a carved handle is inside. Drive 3 towns over to try and find some REAL handpacked spumoni to complement the dinner Nanc and I will cook together tonite. Watch Return of the King Appendices Disc 2. Meditate a bit on the list of Resolutions that will hopefully bring me some improved health and vigor; sumpin's gotta change!

I wish all of you and yours a wonderful 2005!

Gonna be isolated for awhile as I try to implement my changes in life. See ya all around the bend....

Thanks, Matt! I thought of you last night as I watched the LOTR Appendices in the segment about the horsemanship and horse training. Incredible animals they had! My dog stood on the edge of the bed craning towards the tube, intent on those horses the whole segment. For some reason he LOVES horses, always intent on them on TV and mesmerized when we pass a pasture with horses in it. Mind you, this is a city dog who's never been in the country as such. I noticed a dog in the segment, too, and the horses didn't seem to mind him at all. Do most dogs and horses have affection for each other?

Well, I'll be deep frying a turkey and roasting some corn on the cob for a 2nd annual new years turkey fry. Geet so spend some time in the shop tommorrow and just rough ground 3 handles that I glues up yesterday. Getting faster and loving it ;)

Need to send off 2 blades to the hands of the new owners (sort of...one will be comming back after its tried out for fun)

Might start the soldier knife and see if I can get one in there. Hell since Dan says hell make sheaths why not? Thanks Dan!

I think it depends on the dog and the horse. I've got a border collie who thinks she's big stuff. She herds the barn cats, and you should really see her get after a ground squirrel. She can run it, turn it, stop it, and run it again most of the time. The horses on the other hand pretty much ignore her. I have one colt though that likes to herd her :D he hangs his head real low with his nose straight out in front of him and trots right along keeping on her tail, which usually leads to her panicing and diving under a gate!
There are a lot of people who bring their dogs to horseshows too (I always threaten to take my horse to a dogshow). The dogs pretty much follow their owner around (sometimes while they are riding, but not while they're being judged), looking for a handout and don't worry much about the horses.

Dan - I thought that would wake you up..he he. I'd be glade to send you one :D You can cretique sp? me. I have been taking my finishes to 400 grit and etching. I hate when some of those 220 marks still show so I try to reach a nice comprimise and get a good looking finish.

Shrimp, Crab cakes, Chily, Barbaque and Bacardi.
Tomorrow I might start another sniper knife.

I'll be making home made fish soup at a friends place tonight.

The GURLS will be eating steak!

The guys will be eating bouillabaisse with fresh fish, shrimp, clams and mussels...um um!

Then we will be playing cards and tossing a few back to bring in the new year!

Happy New Year to all!

I took part of today off so it is the weekend. I made a cart for my new welder (gave me something to weld)

I picked up the hydraulic tubing I needed for my 4 bore the other day and will start shaping that this weekend.

I'm going squirrel hunting tomorrow afternoon.

I started the Iraq knife last evening so I need to do a little work on it.

I need to do some work on my mountain bike this weekend.

My wife and I are going to stay home tonight and watch the new year get here. Old people do that you know. :footinmou If she reads this I'm going to get my butt kicked.

I made my barrel for the Air Taser II and want to get that tested.

Happy New Year Guys,

Hey Don, What barrel thickness would a .125 bore need to be for a mini shotgun?. Probably fire about the same weight as half a .22 bullet in shot. Thinking about a folder with a mini 2barrel. Most like A203E and "the king of steel damascus :)

Went deer hunting this morning for the last time this season :( Worked on the special ops knife today. I'll ring in the new year with the wife and my daughter tonight. We got pizza. No alcohol for me, gave it up years ago. Addicted to coffee now. :) Start the new year with more determination for making knives. Happy New Year everyone :D

If all goes well tomorrow I'll finish up a little boring job I have on the mill and then attempt to install my new Toshiba VFD that I got myself for Christmas (with much help from pso) on the Bridgeport. For tonight the wife and I will likely spend a quiet night at home unless there's a sudden drop in visit from someone. I have to leave for a trade show the Tuesday after New Years every year and it involves a lot of driving so we almost never go out on this holiday. I've found New Year's parties to be a great place to pick up a cold that germinates just in time to make me sick at the trade show and I hate that!

Hopefully I'll get to squeeze in a couple hours killing monsters in Half Life 2 as well:)

Happy New Year guys!

John

Happy new year everybody, we're past the mark in EU region :D May your knives never go dull, may your hamburgers and females be plenty and may all your clothes be washed. Best of luck in 2005 :)

Spent the morning in the shop with Steve, trying to get him into filework. :D He doesn't have much patience for taking it slow and clean, so I went upside his feelings a couple times. His knife is going to turn out okay for a first effort but he really bit off a big one for the first try. He's excited and if he had his way I'd be in the shop every day all day... :D

I'm trying to find some small snaps for the sheath for the mini theater knife; so far no luck. I guess I can try a fabric store to see what they have for making baby clothes. I wonder if baby clothes have black snaps? :D

Just a few minutes ago I made the first sketch for my Iraq knife but I know there'll be many iterations before it's right. Looking pretty much like what's in my head though, so far. It's interesting to think how a soldier will use a knife and plan things accordingly. I dig it.

We're going to the standard party tonight, where I'm going to do my best to stay clean! Wish me luck. At least they're all smart and creative people so I'll have plenty to talk about. Don't have any plans for tomorrow, maybe I'll clean that pigpen of a shop. It sure needs it.

Sunday is usher time at my church and NA service the rest of the day. One of these days I'll get back to work on knives! Like next Friday...

Happy New Year everyone, I wish you all a safe and prosperous 2005.
