I didn't have any work or class yesterday, so I decided to take my dog out for a bit of a hike in a nearby State rec area (WC Wetzel). I've been here a few times before, but I remembered to bring my camera along this time. I really like it out there because there are really no amenities to speak of, which means it's not busy. I rarely see more than a couple of people when I go, however I expect it might be a little busier when it gets nicer out.

Anyway I took a few pictures

Some of the wetland ponds, always seems to be some swans around.

Major doesn't seem to care about the swans

The mini 'muk that I won in BarberFobic's giveaway

Nice pictures- looks like a paper wasp's nest. The yellow jackets usually build under overhangs. Sure is a lot of death in those parts!

I had to chuckle - "JK EWOK and bone that I found" - first thought that flashed my mind was - that guy didn't survive and all that is left is his knife :D

thanks for the pics, it looks like a great time. nice blades too

I've been really enjoying the knife. It's great for food prep, I've taken it the last few times that I've gone out there and usually bring and apple and some cheese and sausage, and use the knife you made to slice everything up. Each of these times I had neglected to bring my camera with me. This week I had just eaten at home before I left, so I didn't bring a lunch with me, but next time I do I'll get some pics of that too.

I also just love using to cut up an apple as I sit around the house. I got used to cutting up apples to eat them when I had braces, and I've just sorta continued to do it. They seem to taste better, and it gives me an excuse to use my knives more. :D

Thanks again for the great knife. I love the clip on the sheath because I can clip it into my front pocket (right where I carry my folders) and the handle is easily accessible. The size is pefect, and it's a great little slicer.

Thanks again man.

Well it is Detroit :p. (New Haven technically I think)

Yeah there sure was, I found a couple more deer carcasses right near where the bones for the scandi picture was. These were all very near the parking area, not sure if some road crew just decided to dump them there or what. I'm pretty sure the area is open for deer hunting, so maybe hunters just butchered them right there. I find it unlikely that several deer would just die right next to the parking area.

Not sure what the bone in the EWOK picture was, but there wasn't any other remains around it, it might even just be a bone that somone brought for their dog when they were walking it. Who knows.

Found a couple of other dead songbirds too, one bluejay and perhaps a robin. I've seen alot of hawks around, so perhaps it was them. Alot of coyote/fox scat too.

Watched a hawk hunt over one of the fields yesterday, no pics as my el-cheapo digital camera wouldn't have taken an anywhere near decent picture of it.

Cool pics, thanks for sharing.

On a side note, if it matters to you, you may want to reset your date and time on your camera. Your pics are dated from 4 yrs ago, hehe.

Yeah I noticed this, thought perhaps someday it might come in handy to have a camera that timestamps thing 4 years ago.

I got the camera for 20 bucks off ebay, no manual or anything. It takes pictures which is all I really care about. I guess I could probably play around and figure out how to remove the timestamp alltogether (this is what I would prefer)
