Ah , that wonderful day to mark the end of a craptacular work week. ;) . Hopefully I will be working on tomahaken this w/e with larry Nowicki. The weather looks like it will hold out for us. Probably going to block a colon with a big hunk of cow.......mmmmmmm .........cow.

What ya'll doin' ? :D

Well...I'll be getting the handle ready for the Soldier knife along with needleremorse's(shorter version). Then I need to work on 2 "Trailsman" knife (larger in scale with a 5.5" blade version of the companion I make) Need to clean those up for assembly.

If I can I'll rough cut 2 more projects.
I need to make a sheath for that Warncliff design I did a while back....going to a new home.

Oh damn! Re-sketch your knutsack skinner. I need to bring that into the house! ;)

Other than that its same old routine with the lovely wife and son ;) :)

I don't know
I guess its garaunted that I'll be shoveling horseshit again, and I'll probably get some time in the shop too :D
Its awful damn cold out right now though. Windchill below zero again, so maybe I'll just sit here on my ass and keep warm :grumpy:

frezzing rain forecast herE.
I"ll probably stretch out by the fire and read the latest edition of

" The Adventures of Master Williams"
Episode I: Here come the Jedi's

Its -17F here, and its all I can do to muster the strength to keep snapping the icicles off the tip of my nose.

Going to go visit a non-forum-posting knifemaker friend of mine on Sunday. We're going to make some damascus and maybe drink some bourbon.

Sweany i have not read the book but i did see the movie ---over rated  I think the new film should be better ( Master Williams episode ( swinging rope saga ) that freezing rain is to get here to
My name is Ron Claiborne ,im a knifemaker and im 1 day Damascus free

Now that's a recipe for amputation if e're I've heard one. It got me a finger and toe slice to date....

:) mitch

Back when I used to drink a LOT. I would polish of a quart of bourbon during the evening workin out in the shop. It was always exciting to get up in the morning and count all my fingers and toes, then go out to see what I had made the night before. The shop elves did some decent stuff on occasion.

I'm much better now.

A bottle of Bourbon a night, Mark? Holy Smokes, no wonder you quit, Good for you, man. Are you a teetotaller now, or do you still imbibe occasionally? I was drinking very heavily right up until New Years Eve, and since then I've only had two drinks. Feels good to clean out a little. Was hard to sleep at first - right after quitting - but now I sleep like a baby.

I hope to work on the soldier knife this weekend and finish a custom order. Working my regular job as usual. Nothing all that exciting going on this weekend.

So far I only take a little snort when I go to the hammer-in down in Ga. I treat myself to a nice bottle of Elijah Craig single barrel straight -up. MMmm... mmm. Might have a taste of something this w/e. I'll have a social beer once in a blue moon. T-totallers bore me. Life's too short to stand alone.

It all comes down to just making you mind up. I still need to make my mind up that smoking needs to stop.

Ah, you can quit smokin. I believe in the Master. :D

I've been on a rampage lately to finish up some knives for my first knife show in St. Louis. Should be fun, but nerve-wracking. :)

Friday eh? All I know is that it's wet a FREEZING here in South Texas! Almost 60 degrees! Now that's COLD (for a texan). I have alot to do this weekend, all pretty much enjoyable.

Sixty degrees and you are bitching about it. Just goes to show that no matter where you live, you'll get cold in the winter. Man, if I had sixty degrees up here right now, I'd be outside in a pair of shorts. :)

I drank so much sour mash in my twenties, I can't stand the taste of it any more.

I will have a little snort of good rum or tequila still.

I'm going goose hunting tomorrow morning, talking of icicles hanging off the nose. It won't be -17° though.

I have a couple of blades ready for handles that I need to finish this weekend.

SSShhhhhhh ! Be vewry, vewry quiet........

I called in sick this morning.  Its a little after 9 a.m., and now I suddenly feel much better..........Sooooooooo, I'm gonna make a sheath for a big camp-style knife that I finished yesterday.

I had those pesky shop elves for a while too only mine drank Bacardi. I got a little Aged Tortuga 140 left from the Camen Islands I could bring for after some holes get drifted. Maybe a quick cordwrap lesson, If I get this latest heat treated tonight.

Bring what you want Larry, I seem to have an emergency stash around somewhere :) I was hoping this w/e would work out so I guess you noticed the sheath didnt show up.

Well, ya the week of work is over...yeeepeee. Maybe a day with IG tomorrow, who knows? One thing I do know, is when I'm at IG's we suck up all the beer that I bring, (always a 12 pack of Sammy, Winter Lager right now), and IG's ever constant supply of Jose. The beer ain't so bad, but the Jose, I got a 40 mile ride home, and 2 DUI's from the past. My wife goes Bull Sh**, when I've been drinkin and drivin. What's a poor boy gonna do? Like IG said in another thread, his smithy is buried in snow, so there would be no making of Damascus, but he does have dangerous machinery down stairs that can be put to good use  .
