Friday Post and a Little OT Fun

No ink for me.

Got the word tonight that we're taking the weekend off at the shop, and I don't have any hay to haul this weekend so maybe I'll get into my shop a little bit. Course I have 2 projects to turn in and a final to take monday for school, and also need to clean the stalls and do a bunch of work at the barn. Then my buddy will probably show up with his truck so I can patch the busted tailgate, and my mom broke a candle holder and has a welding job for me too. Probably not going to see any knife work this weekend.

We are cooking a Japanese dinner on Saturday for our students.

The dojo has sixteen active members. Many of them are teens and have never had Japanese food. Chopsticks are required. Some may go hungry.

Cooking with a dozen teenagers will put gray in your hair.

Fred, we never had kids, and that many teens at once would defnitely leave us both batty! Ever had fugu? Interesting stuff, especially fugu sake. Nothing quite like fish-flavored wine! :D We had some work colleagues visit over the years. A friend brought fugu from his home island and treated us. Interesting experience.

Shawn, that link was bizarre at first. There's a "k" in Markus and it goes to a German guy's website. It was strange for a moment 'til I figured out to change it to a "c". LOL Man oh man is he talented. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing the link, it was a real treat to see that. I'm stunned.

Carvin makes really nice instruments. I like those fretboards.

Shawn-fu, nice ink:thumbup:  If you ever get down to Mass. stop by and we can make up some Damascus.

You have a open invite, to come on down. I am putting up a roof over my outside smithy (hopefully next weekend). So this will allow me to make Damascus all winter. Feel free in giving me a call.;) :D 508 999 7090
PS: You must bring the beer. HEHEHEHEHE!!!

BBBB Beaver?? Come on show your Tats.
PS: I'll be posting the last thing you burnt here.

IG, you have too much plastic around your forge area, it burns real good

Tats, ok, Linda took some pics this morning for the ink show :D

I had this one put on in 90. I was waiting to find the right artist, a friend of mine, had just gotten some new ink, and when I saw it, I new this was the artist to do the work, American Bald Eagle with talons into and American made 1958 Fender Stratocaster (I have 2 of Strats). I like the way the guitar is bleeding and the blood turns into musical notes. If my arm were fatter (kinda like IG's head  I wouldn't have had to take 2 pics)

I had this one done in 78, after a bike wreak, my silver medallion of a scorpion was missing, so I had one inked on. The left claw is missing because I had broken my left wrist in the accident (good reminder)

Back in 76 I thought I was going to be a great martial artist, that never happened, though I still train in Oriental Martial Arts, I went from Japanese Kenpo to Chinese Kung Fu.

All together now...

and that's that.

Kook is coming over today to pick up the forge we made for him IG style. I gave him a blower but the motor would not come up to the 3000 RPM, consequently to low of CFM. Kook took the beater motor off of a carpet attachment of a vacum cleaner to use with the squirrel cage, the problem was vibration. The beater motor is 1100 RPM, he went to homedepot and and picked up a speed control (he got it right after 3 trips). I imagine we'll be trying it out today.

Why don't you get a practical tattoo ? Like a TTT diagram, or a map so you can find your way home ??

T blade-I love the eagle & strat-badass!

Thanks Shawn fu, an artist name Mondo did this for my at a friends house, in the kitchen. I had the idea of this tatoo for 10 years before I found the artist to do it :D
