Well , Here it is.

Plan on working as much as possible out in the shop. What else is there?
Seems like it's been a tough week for a lot of you guys. Hope you all have a safe and productive w/e. :)

I was going to work a bunch in my shop today and finish up a knife that I epoxied yesterday. Unfortunately I was working on a folder kit I bought (lockback) and when I tried to put the spring in, My hand slipped and I cut my thumb pretty good. Had to go for stitches, and I got 6... :( Myparents don't want me in the shop today.

I get to go have a tooth drilled away and shaped for a gold crown! Then they put the goo in the mouth for the impression. This is exciting, I just can't wait! NOT! :barf:

I think I'll straighten up the mess I have out in my shop. I clean it up about every three months or so. After it's cleaned up I can't remember where I put stuff to get it out of the way, so I end up dragging it all back out again. It's a never ending cycle and they wonder why some knifemakers turn to good scotch to cope with the problem, except for IG who likes those cactus squeezings. Some times I go out to the shop and make a mess so I have an excuse to cope with it.

There is a guy (Jim Linnell) comming to the local Tandy Leather to demonstrate leather sculpting. Going to see what he does in the sheath area??????

Today, the first of my regular 3 day weekend, is gonna be in the shop. That is, after I have had my morning mini pot of coffee. The world is not properly attuned until I have had my coffee, so you all can just relax. Heck, take the day off! Go fishin' huntin', harrass IG, play here, or drag your carcasses into the shop! Hey, if it's my weekend, it ought to be yours, too. That's my first decree, thank God it's Friday, get corrupted or something!

at Steve Rollert's shop in Keenesbug, CO. Steve is the owner of Dove Knives and Keenedge Knives. He used to teach bladsmithing at Trindad Junior College in Colorado and now offers classes at his shop.

Anyhow, I've got a lot of stuff to learn but am an eager (and old :grumpy: ) student.

I sold three knives last weekend at a gun show and traded one for an inline TC blackpowder rifle. So there's new steel and belts on the way, the weather is getting warmer and I might get into the (unheated) shop.

Or I might just go shoot my new muzzle loader.

I bought the stuff to make a shadow box to get non-crappy knife photos, so it's on the to do list.

Or maybe all of the above...

rough week for sure...sure you noticed that I didnt post much. Just felt BLAH!!!
SO I am trying to get back to eating food and not puking it up and finishing a job to get in the mail Monday.

well i'll be spending the morning and day cleaning the house and smashing down walls to get ready to re model the house, took a small break to print a picture of some burl i bought make it to scale and figure out how many bocks i can get out of it (66 blocks that is), spend the night at work cooking like a madman. saturday morning more smashing down the walls, but i get to finally get the damn old 3 door monitor top refrigerator out of my shop and put in a beautiful hardwood desk from the 40's into my shop as a new storage/work table. i've been waiting for that for a long time. then i can get to work on a new little project i was showing I.G. the other day, secret for now untill i get it together :D then the pics will follow. hope you all have a good weekend. except you I.G. i know its going to suck cause i'm gonna stop by and visit ;)

GrassHoppa; I have been feeding Jaguar black powder, relish and Jose'. I bet you will not make it from the gate to the door.  :D

I will be delivering the leatherworking knife I just finished today. I traded it to a saddle maker for some sheath making lessons. Hopefully after this my knives won't have to be delivered Nekked. :D Not trying to sound like an old pro here, this is only my 4th completed knife and the 1st using 52100. I am real interested to see how well it holds up cutting leather all day long.

It should be a good weekend ~

Saturday morning I get to go take a bladesmith class from CREX. That should be very cool.....then I get to take my five year girl to a father/daughter Valentines day dance at her ballet school. And on Sunday hopefully I will have some time to work on my scooter.

Since I can't work in the shop with my thumb, I'm takin my tools over to my bud and he's gonna finish up this knife we've been working on. I still hafta make the sheath though, so that oughta be interesting with my right hand out.

I don't know. I'd like to go shoot something maybe. I've about had it this week, maybe I'll just sleep till monday.
I have knives to work on but I'm still waiting on steel :grumpy:
I haven't had time to set my grinder up yet anyway :grumpy:
All the lights in my shop mysteriously went out last night. The breakers are all still on so I've got some figuring to do on that. Quite a few of the bulbs were bad and I've been using portable halogen work lights, but the last 2-3 overheads went out simultaneuously  :grumpy:
I've got knives I need to get pictures of, but my new printer/scanner won't work. Can't get it to install. Still working on that :grumpy:
Its also friggin cold out again :grumpy:

Hope you guys have a good weekend.

Jeagar, what did you do to your thumb? It sounds bad! IG, what do you think, soak it in whiskey followed by consuming 6 shots of whiskey to fend off infection? I just strolled back in from the shop for java and thought I should check on you rascals before I head back to the shop. So far, our weather here is great, making shop work much more desirable. It's a shop weekend!

I have to put a starter in my jeep and then I have 14 blades I have profiled that need heat treating. I just can't believe all the fun I was missing by not selling knives. :barf:

Hooray, finally, some o/t i can actually post in.
I'm working from 8:00 to 4:00 again at the stables tomorow (my unoficial and unpaid job). While I don't get cash, I'm one of two people that tacks up, untacks, cleans stalls, and keeps the place going on weekends. The person who's been doing this for a while is moving to Sunday, but we now should have three people working. I'm now the head of the stable hands on Sat! Other than that, I'm still waiting on welding, and learning.
