Friday Post

I have 6 knives on the bench right now,I think that's a record for me! One is a big honkin' cable fighter that is pretty near all hammer and no grinder.
Lot's O' driving this weekend, inlaws, grandparents in in the city and the good ol Italian fish feast for dinner chrismas eve:D
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday :)

Even though no one has asked, but, I can say with some confidence, that, we are all interested in knowing, What that big handle be for on top of the forge?
Does this double as a deep fryer? Is it large enough for a turkey?

Good looking forge,

:confused:Fred

I'm working on the deep-fryer attachment, Fred!;)

The top is removable, so if I need to change something in the forge (or add or remove flux-catching stuff like kitty litter), it's easy enough to do. Inside the top is a 2" thick piece of Insboard with a 1" piece of Inswool attached to it --even with rigidizer on it, it's kind of soft, so it acts like a gasket and seals the top perfectly!

Visiting family tomorrow. Gotta get into the shop tonight, and probably all day sunday to get things done for christmas. Dad's folder might look more like a knife kit come christmas morning :foot:

I have 5 in the works right now. Found a tub of furnace cement today and when I got home, i was still afraid to heat treat the 3 knives that have been sitting around for a couple of weeks while i SLOWLY hand sand then and make most of the guards and handle parts...lol.....so I started forging a HUGE W2 bowie out of 3/8's stock. (the demon tang stamp only killed one out of four of the other knives, so that went ok) The blade on the bowie is around 12" by 1 3/4+ and should be somewhere north of 17" overall. Tang gets done tomorrow morning and then on to face the heat treating bogey man with the other 3.:D

Tonight I'll be jammin' with the "Lightnin' Brothers", the annual Christmas session. Unfortuanately, the Kydex and rivets for the sheath's of the knives I made for the LB's just came in today. I guess the LB's will have to jam again be for X-mas :D

I'll probably swing by IG's on Saturday and drop off the equipment that I borrowed last week.
