WOW!!!

Where the heck did you score that little treasure?

Sweet machine, bro!

That was an e-bay find. Luckily it was reasonably local --it's larger (and much heavier) than it looks in photos. It required a few thing --had to have the lapping plate ground, replace some knobs, buy a new slurry tube --pretty basic, simple stuff, thankfully. Most of it was there.

It's one of those things .... I'm probably into this item for $1,200 or $1,300 by now, but I have more than 1000 parts to do and was getting quotes of about $1 a piece, soooooo new toy, here we come!

I'm going to finish up my taxes, and see if the feds are giving me back enough to buy some new toys for my shop (belt grinder... buzz box welder... treadle hammer, whatever)

Been too cold for my forge to fire up without going out and buying a new propane tank of a much larger size, and since i dont have a grinder or anything, not much I can do knife related at the moment.

Sitting in Ohare airport right now after a week in Scottsdale, AZ. Headed back to the icy tundra. Will be firing up the forge a little tomorrow to do some light blacksmithing to help my nephew with a school project, and visiting Dad on Sunday. Maybe I can squeeze in some grinding on the 3 blades I have waiting at home.

Well, I'm headed to Smokey Mountain Knifeworks Saturday morning. Ken Largin has set up a knifemakers coop there and I'm going to drop by for a visit with him and Len Landrum. Then maybe head to Ron Claiborne's to work on some dies for my press. The rest of the weekend will be filled with cutting up forge bodies for the next batch, currently have 4 in progress and hope to have another 10 in progress after this weekend!

:)

Forged a little today so that I could free up saturday and get some climbing in(finally:thumbup: )sunday I hope to finish up the"anything that could possibly go wrong went wrong" hunter/utility.:D

Oh , I forgot Larry. I havent even looked at the die specs yet. I'm waiting on some info on the machine that should help.

Neato Machine Mr. Caswell

I am picking up a surface grinder tonight and going to see if I get teh phase converter wired correctly for it. Over the weekend I may convert it ot run belts.

Working nights all weekend at the power plant. Probably won't even see the inside of my shop until Monday afternoon. I've got 6 knives on the bench waiting for me to finish their grips and make up sheaths. Three are going to Iraq, one to a fellow forum member in Ma., one in Fl., and one to Wa.

After that I've got a hot job for a certain Hog Hunter with a very tight deadline!

I also just hardened 7 blades. One's A2, ones O1, three are 52100, and two are damascus. So I'll be spending the weekend finish grinding and polishing. :)

If you want to swing over and cut that on the big saw today, gimme a call.

My plans just changed a bit. I just had 3 cords of slabwood dropped here that I have to rebuild the firewood pile with. 17 degrees out and I'm about to start stacking wood....whee! :)
