It's rained pretty hard last night so I now have a river running through the shop. I guess I'd better get the backhoe fired up and put in a drainage system beside the barn.

No knife work yet but soon....very soon :D

What ya'll doin?
 
Prepping my brother for a job interview where I work, and hopefully using him as a striker to forge down this huge bar of O1 i've got sitting in my garage while he's there.
 
cleaning up all the empty beer cans and trash wife comes back today look like the funs over "welcome back satin"
 
Ahhhh Friday :) My first day off in a while (thanks to the monsoon) Errands blah ,blah, house work :barf: With any luck I can finish my crowning achievment for 2006 knife this weekend :(
 
Crazy windy today till about 6pm, according to forecasts. Going to run down to the Bose complex otherwise known as the Wilfred Works to "chicken eye and coon finger" some knives. Got a fresh batch of HT Relish to unleash on that household. A little known fact about Wilfred; the area sits on a empty oil deposit "pocket" that a gas company is using as a huge underground reservoir. Man...that's going to be some gassy place today :)

Finished this one up minutes ago. This is a Bose Drop Point Hunter pattern in D2 and black linen micarta. 8 1/4" long, 1/8" thick with tapered tang. Rc59-61. I did a crappy job with the stamp so I'll probably give this to a hunter friend to field test. Oh yea, I turned the bead out of whitetail antler and thong is deer skin.

Did the 'river watch' for weather bureau and local EMA but dire predictions came to little ....Joe , they pored concrete for the abutment for the last girder this week.Steel is supposed to be delivered this month.
 
Sweet, Kerry. What a great asset to be that close to Mr. Bose... I'm jealous.

Need to mail some things out today, a bud is coming over to put the final touches (hopefully) on a fellow knifemaker's website, and maybe some hammering later.
 
I'm grinding a BIG bowie, and getting into a pointless argument about Japanese swords. :mad:
 
i shall be at moms house this weekend helping her and my uncle with another small estate sale. so many tools to go thru, so little time. i believe he did die with the most toys.
 
We got the storm here today.:jerkit: It's suppose to stop overnite and tomorrow is going to be in the 50's.:cool: :thumbup: May have to fire up the forge and make some Damascus tomorrow.:D

This weekend my blacksmith guild id having a knifemaking class, so I'll probably go down and help/be a nuisance. Maybe I'll take the gas forge down and run a damascus making demo for the class.

Other than that I've got some poking at/tweaking of the new lathe I hpoe to get to so I can make a few chips and feel better about my lack of shop time recently.

I feel for you Allan, we are having a cold snap from heck. Just when it was warming up to. I am awaiting some supplies from pops to get a few new projects underway. Think I will do some work on my coote base I have wanted to get done.
 
I just got back in from doing the bulk of my catching up. I straightened and annealed 2 old files, straightenend a forged 1084 knife that was bent and annealed that, re-forged a 1084 knife that I made in Old Washington back in '01. Heat treated 2 O-1 knives which are cooking in the oven as I write this. I hope they turn out, I mis-programmed my oven :eek:, so I had to quick jam it back in the forge and use a magnet. Lucky for me the forge was still running at the time!:D I was hoping to record the data in a log for future reference, but that went kaput. Maybe next time. Gonna have my dad rockwell test them for me soon, so I hope I can use that small chunk of data at least. Thanks for listening to me ramble, I rarely get so much shop time in one dose! -Matt-
 
Hopefully I would like to have some time to start the layout of the forge work area:thumbup: . Lots of clean up befor I begin:thumbdn: Dump run Here I come:D
 
I will be finishing up the nursery for the baby on Saturday. Having a baby shower on Sunday. Couple more weeks!
