Crappy w/e end for me. I have to help a friend move on Saturday. :grumpy:
Hopefully I'll get a humongous Bowie ground on Sunday from a billet of Bruce Evans's damascus. I played around with a cuttoff piece last night and the pattern is beautiful.

I have to work tomorrow. :grumpy:

I'm converting a press to run two streams of paper instead of only one. Got to do some heavy cylinder and bearer work tomorrow. Hey WTF... the o/t will be good.

That leaves Sunday for more work on the house. Yay!

Well....I get to work in the shop but I have a nasty bug....if I was a little kid they would call it croup. I think that is where I picked it up...from some snot covered little monster at the hospital. Job related hazard. :barf:

I am working on a 10.5 bladed Bowie for a Swedish fellow who wants a black walnut handle....and I will be building the finish off and on all wknd.

Not much going on here. Need to get some work done in the shop, but damn it's hot. Anxiously waiting for some Parks 50 to come in -- can't wait to play with the stuff. Might try to clean the shop . . . .

nah. :D

You guys have a good one and be safe. :)

I did like you did last week Mark....Cut the grass yesterday.

I'll be trying my hand at fitting bolsters and antiquing a small 2.5" skinner...
Nice lil blade.

Think I'll also work on some ther knives I have started....I have 5 in process at the moment....My second attemp at my very first knife pattern is one. Big ass Survival type blade.......All having hammons......

Oh yeah, playstation with the stepson and teasing the wife are 2 other things I have going on :D

And babysitting a dog....

Get to got to the northern california knife show in the morning! Then the church picnic. Then kid's birthday party on Sunday. The in-laws are here all week-end too.

Looks like I'll have lots of shop time..........not.

heading by IG's soon. i need to finish hand rubbing a dagger, then two more blades. hopefully i'll go pick up a goat or two, :D then i need to pick up a strange thing that goes in the field for the llamas to rub against to clean off all the loose fur. :D

Nice wharncliffe larry. When we getting together? Deb said that you need to come down here and deliver her mushroom order at the same time. She wants a case of each kind :) And you have to cook. :)

Michael,

That reminds me! I pounded out and rough ground an 8" dagger for fun last week. Maybe I can sneak out of the house and clay coat and treat it this week-end. You know, explain to the wife I want to show something to her dad......

Steve

This weekend, I'm doing nothing but spending quality time with my wife. She just got out of the hospital after a little over a week and spending several days in the ICU and having two surgeries for a life-threatening blood clot in her leg. Considering the fact that the doctors didn't know if she'd even be able to walk after the surgery, her recovery is nothing short of miraculous. We went for a mile and a half walk last night, slowly, but she made it nonetheless. I'm the luckiest person in the world, I still have my loving wife, and I will never take anything for granted ever again.

Darren....tell her Brian says she is a very lucky girl. This problem has happened to 2 people close to me. Both are on blood thinners now. My thoughts are with you both.

Darren -- glad to hear the good news!! Sounds like you both deserve each other. :D

Steve -- good luck with the heat-treat, I love a dagger with a nice hamon. If you're going to the BACKA, stop by the TAD booth, they have a couple of my blades there. Nothing too traditional, more "tactical Japanese" if that makes sense. :D

Darren,

Thanks for the update, I've been worried and glad she's home!

Michael, I'll be looking!

Still heavy in local produce till 7 to 10 days after a frost. Corn is good but turns ugly after that. Shrooms will not be a problem and I can cook some.

Need to make a sheath for one I made for our own VultureParade.

Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Yep, eagerly awaiting the arrival of that baby.

I'm patient though. And Larry is great to deal with, so the longer it takes for me to get the knife the longer I get to deal with him, which is a pleasure.

Other than that, my lady comes home from Florida Saturday night, so I'm looking forward to seeing her. I rented a bunch of movies, so I'm just going to hang out and wait for her to get home. I hope everyone's weekend is great.

Darren - great news about your wife, love her! squeeze her! don't ever leave her! haha, but seriously, that is great buddy.

-Bryan

Darren glad she's doing well. :D :D :D :D :D

Bet you are brething easy too.

I'm playing in the shop finishing up my IITH.

Darren I'm glad everything has turned out well. Hang in there and keep taking good care of her.

Compared to that, my weekend has been pretty quiet. I had kind of a milestone yesterday morning. Cut out a blank and got the knife ready for HT in just under four hours - that's absolutely a record for me. ;) I'm the slowest producer in creation. This morning I'm going to tighten up the axe before it gets light, them I'll HT yesterday's blade. If we get any sunlight today I'll try to get a pic of the axe; it's "unusual" enough to show you. :D

I'm takin the cat to the vet Sat,AM. Then it's to the forge all weekend! Hope to finish the knife for the Southeast Custom Knife Show's judging. Its a damascus dager with a three edged, twisted, fluted ,10" blade, and narwhal handle.Fittings will be sterling and gold. The twist on the blade will match the narwhal.Chris Marks pounded up a 3/4" rod of twist steel for me.The twisted flutes will be forgred into the blade, all to be done by hammer,no power or milling - my arm is twitchin' just thinking about it.
